Strengthening and expanding our analytical capabilities is a key element of Alpiq’s growth plan. Thus, this newly created Analyst role is expected to significantly boost the entrepreneurial dynamics on our Gas Desk. The role is ideal for somebody with both a solid fundamental understanding of the gas market as well as good data management and optimization skills. The role reports to the Head of Analytics, but sits with the Gas Desk on our central trading floor in Olten, Switzerland.

Main Responsibilities
  • Analyzing gas fundamentals and trends and generating market views and trading ideas for the Gas Desk, thus contributing to a positive P&L
  • Creating new and optimizing and maintaining existing forecasting models
  • Close collaboration with traders and analysts from other desks in order to leverage additional market insights
  • Working closely with support functions across the business, mid-office, IT and Analytics
  • Preparing ad hoc analysis for other stakeholders in the business, when requested
Main Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in the fundamental analysis of gas markets (European hubs, LNG, etc.)
  • Experience in the development of quantitative modelling and their use for the development of trading strategies
  • Solid data management and coding skills (Python, R etc.)
  • Very good communication and collaboration skills, ability to be an efficient team player even under high pressure
  • Fluent English, any other language a plus
