The Investigative and Immunosafety Chapter contributes to our portfolio through assessing and mitigating safety risks. We apply our science to develop confidence in translating our data and insights to meaningful project decisions. We collaborate with pRED scientists across diverse teams.

Job mission

The Genetic Toxicology science lead is accountable for the scientific and operational delivery of modern regulated and non-regulated genetic toxicology assays to inform risk assessment of discovery and development projects. In this role you will also drive the design and development of advanced methods in genetic toxicology (eg., for novel modalities such as cell and gene therapy) and the application of these to inform decision making. The Genetic Toxicology science lead will operate in a matrix organization to bring the best of our science to the pRED portfolio. In addition to regular genetic toxicology assays, other similar assays are in scope, e.g. phototoxicity.

Your impact
  • Lead the genetic toxicology science for established and emerging therapeutic modalities, including cell and gene therapies
  • Ensure and facilitate transparent decision making within project and matrix teams, guided by clear decision criteria and based on thorough data analysis
  • Contribute to the advancement of Genetic Toxicology Science and its application to emerging modalities and treatment paradigms
  • Nurturing trustful relationships and effective collaboration with internal and external partners

Your profile

The Genetic Toxicology science lead displays these skills{{:}}
  • University degree in a scientific discipline to PhD. level or advanced degree in toxicology with equivalent working experience in Genetic Toxicology
  • Profound experience of established and modern in vitro and in vivo genetic toxicology assays and a strong understanding of regulatory requirements in Genetic Toxicology
  • Experience of new technologies applied to Genetic Toxicology e.g. flow cytometry, high content imaging, DNA repair
  • Knowledge of drug development and a vision of Genetic Toxicology future state
  • Excellent communication of results and insights to project teams, including advice on decisions to be made from the data
  • Highly motivated with commitment to work collaboratively in a matrix team and a strong solution-focused mindset
  • A mentor to experienced and junior scientists to help them grow
