THE ROLE

At Wella Procurement you are responsible for bringing the best ideas, talent and capability to support the company’s business needs. Working closely with the Indirect Senior Director you will be defining and implementing new strategies and developing a 5-year program. You will engage with internal stakeholders to review business needs and spend drivers, support strategic choices on spend policies and define the external capabilities needed to deliver value and growth. You and your team will look for the best external business partners and talent to deliver our needs working on work on stronger supplier relationship management, you will work on helping our business leaders clearly describe their needs as well as simplification of processes and supply base.

The role of Global Category Procurement Director Marketing & Media Buying is to create and drive the strategy and strategic interventions on the Global Marketing, Media, Retail and Consumer Promotions spend for the newly formed company. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the design of strategy and the strategic choices in this area. Working with your team and key stakeholders you will create new Global strategies in this spend segment, building upon the strategic thinking developed and refining it to better fit the new smaller and more agile company.

Key Responsibilities
  • With your team of buyers, you will design, refine and implement new sourcing strategies and strategic interventions across your Spend segment.
  • Responsible for driving strategy, savings initiatives and business plans with discipline to deliver the fiscal year objectives as well as longer term interventions in the 3 to 5-year horizon.
  • Drive design of options and leadership engagement to make strategic choices to spend better and spend less through policy and process tools.
  • Design and implement processes and tools to support sourcing activities.
  • Ensure appropriate support and alignment with regional teams, R&D, Operations, Marketing and Finance in the implementation and execution of the strategy and projects.
  • Implement Supplier Relation Management program. In all your activities you are acting as a commercial expert to ensure best value and strong stewardship of the company’s money to deliver best in quality, service, talent and value, year on year.
  • Work to ensure transparency and governance of spend processes and policies globally, sharing findings, savings and enabling new best practices.
  • Develop capability and manage team to deliver maximum efficiency and value to business. Ensure the ongoing training and development of self and team in procurement best practices and skills.
  • Engage and influence stakeholders in Category Strategy definition and implementation.

Essential

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in Procurement and Supply Chain organisations, at least 10-12 years, ideally specialising in Marketing & Media Buying.
  • Degree qualified preferably in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business or other relevant discipline, MBA advantageous.
  • Experience in implementing, developing and managing sourcing strategies in the Media spend area.
  • Results oriented individual with solid proven track record in delivering value, cost and cash, and improving effectiveness of sourcing networks.
  • Knowledge of e-sourcing tools and in executing sourcing of Indirects.
  • High degree of fluency in written and spoken English is required, a second language is an asset.
Desirable
  • You will have proven analytical, influencing, negotiation and communication skills. A strategic thinker balanced with ability to execute.
  • Work experience in an international environment and matrix organizations.
  • Capable and proven track record of stakeholder management including business Leaders, both internal and external.
