Global Division Communications and Marketing Manager, Measurement & Analytics

In this role you will be contributing to business success through the development and deployment of innovative and effective external, internal and marketing communications positioning the strategies and plans to deliver on the Division strategy and financial objectives. In this role you will contribute to the overall positioning of ABB and the Process Automation Business Area. This role reports directly to the Division President and functionally to the Head of Communications, Process Automation Business Area . In This role will be a member of the Division Management team and the Business Area Communication Leadership team.

Your responsibilities

  • Strategy: Responsible for developing and deploying the global communications and marketing strategy for the Division. Leads the global, Hub and functional communication and marcoms teams, ensuring that strategies and plans are aligned with the Division and Business Area. Develop and drive internal communications strategy and activities that connect employees with the overall strategic objectives of the Division, BA, and ABB, including internal stakeholder engagement, change management, employee communications, and issues management. Lead issues management and crisis communications management, supported by communication strategies with foresight, train executives in crisis comms response. Contribute to Business Area and ABB positioning; ensure that the ABB brand and the respective value propositions are top of mind of customers, employees and other stakeholders.
  • Communications and Marketing plans: Responsible for developing, implementing, and measuring communication and marketing plans that drive preference and demand for ABB and build ABB’s brand in the marketplace. Support the Division in achieving its business strategy, objectives and financial targets through integrated activities that include external and internal communication, media relations, online marketing, product marketing, content marketing and marketing automation campaigns. Contribute to the development of cross Division/ Business Area/functional communications and marketing initiatives as well as employee engagement.
  • Positioning and messaging: Lead in the articulation of value proposition and messaging through collaboration between sales, product management and business development to define and differentiate ABB towards various relevant stakeholders and segments. Work with regions to translate these to local needs, relevance and requirements.
  • Tools and platforms: Develop and manage a stack of global marketing communications tools and platforms such as Pardot, Salesforce, Sitefinity, Meltwater, Event platforms and internal communication tools such as Inside+ and Actito to achieve objectives and strategies.
  • Campaigns and activities: Accountable for the creation and management of global promotional activities and campaigns to achieve marketing and communications objectives through integrating a portfolio of stakeholder touchpoints including events, fairs, advertisement, online, print, media, and other communications vehicles to promote products, solutions, and services through their complete life cycle. Achieve success for the business through partnering with sales to clearly articulate value to customers. Provide clear measurement and ROI regularly to key stakeholders.
  • Channels: Responsible for strategic and consistent communication across multiple and appropriate external channels in alignment with Business Area communication and ABB group positioning framework. Own trade media relevant for the Division. Contribute to Business Area and group level channels, including Group/BA level business media, with messaging and content including thought leadership.
  • External resources: Research, identify, and select external marketing communications service providers and partners. Define quality and delivery targets for externally assigned activities, monitor ongoing progress, and resolve issues.
  • Targets: Define key targets and quality metrics for marketing and communications initiatives. Review and evaluate results upon completion of the activities. Set relevant targets for the team/team members in alignment with Division management.
  • People leadership and development: Ensure that the Division communication and marketing team is professionally organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Coach, motivate and develop direct and indirect subordinates within HR policies. Drive and ensure know-how sharing, drive and actively contribute to collaboration across the Division, BA, and ABB; install cross-collaboration as fundamental to the team. Lead Hub/Product Group communication resources within the Division.
  • Budget: Drive and manage the Division communications and marketing budget globally, including an annual bottom up budget process to be coordinated with Division Management and Business Area.

Your background

  • Held senior communications or marketing roles for a global and/or complex organization with 10+ years of experience (preferred); B2B experience is a plus
  • Degree in marketing, communications or relevant fields preferred (or equivalent area of study or experience); alternative areas of study can be offset by practical experience
  • Solid business acumen, results focused with strong analytical skills
  • Track record for developing strategic marketing communications plans to achieve desired targets
  • Must be a self-starter and a strong networker with strategic thinking capabilities and a hands-on approach to translate plans to actions and monitor and report progress
  • Experienced leader working with multinational, global teams; experienced in managing a team of experts
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to effectively manage several large and complex projects and programs at any given time, and under time pressure
  • Excellent knowledge of English language. Strong writing, editing, proofreading capabilities are mandatory
  • Strong team player with influential and change management skills
  • Highly collaborative, with proven track record in achieving strong results in diverse teams
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a complex change management environment
  • Executed communications within major change/transformation programs
  • Display an understanding of communicating across different cultures, languages and time zones
  • Experience of working in large industrial organization is desirable
  • Strong background in Marketing related fields, PR, Digital is a must
