Job responsibilities

You will be reporting to the London-based Regional (EMEA) Head of Global Financial Crimes Legal ( GFC Legal), the responsibilities for the Geneva-based VP, Global Financial Crimes Legal for Switzerland, Your responsibilities will include the following:
  • Act as principal legal contact in Switzerland to provide legal advice to legal, compliance and business colleagues in all Lines of Business based in Switzerland (Asset & Wealth Management, and Corporate and Investment Bank) on issues related to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Economic Sanctions laws and regulations (Sanctions), and Anti-Bribery and Corruption (ABC);
  • Advise on legal issues relating to Suspicious Activity Reporting (SAR) and Suspicious Transaction Reporting (STR) obligations; matters relating to data protection, privacy and information sharing; Know-Your-Customer (KYC) requirements; Anti-Corruption and Sanctions Due Diligence and Risk Assessments;
  • Liaise with and assist internal and outside counsel, as necessary, in legal and investigative matters (both internal and external) related to substantive coverage areas including representation of JPM before the Swiss authorities;
  • Drafting and negotiating financial crimes-related contractual terms and conditions and other legal agreements in a variety of financial relationships and contexts across different jurisdictions, as well as advise on AML, sanctions and ABC as regards acquisitions envisaged by JPMorgan Chase & Co. Group;
  • Advise on and support GFC Compliance training in substantive coverage areas, as well as keep Swiss legal and compliance departments of any new developments and regulations;
  • Possibility to participate to some of the Swiss legal team activities and tasks; attend internal meetings and governance/oversight committees to provide legal advice on relevant Swiss AML, Sanctions and ABC matters.
  • Support select special projects (long-term and short-term) arising from the administration of the global AML, Sanctions and ABC programs including providing legal advice on the development and periodic review of JPMorgan policies and procedures;

Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
  • Qualified Swiss lawyer with spoken and written fluency in both French and English is essential. German is a plus;
  • Experience on transactional, litigation and/or financial services regulatory matters in a major law firm and/or large multi-national corporation, and strong knowledge and understanding of large financial institution products, services, and transactions (minimum of 3 years of experience after completion of the bar exam);
  • Substantive knowledge of the Swiss legal and regulatory frameworks in the principal coverage areas, including the Swiss Criminal Code, Anti-Money Laundering Act, supervisory texts relating to AML and Counter-Terrorist Financing, Sanctions regulations, and laws relating to data protection and privacy. Additional familiarity with EU or Member State legal frameworks on AML, ABC and Sanctions, the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, U.S. Office of Foreign Asset Control and U.S. Bank Secrecy Act is helpful but not essential;
  • Knowledge of Swiss financial regulatory structures and law enforcement environment, including the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA), Swiss Money Laundering Reporting Office (MROS) and Office of the Attorney General of Switzerland (OAG);
  • Strong project management skills;
  • Ability to develop and maintain solid relationships with colleagues;
  • Confidence and experience translating complex legal concepts into practical solutions; c reative solution and problem solving skills.
