Global GTS Application Owner (80-100%)

In November 2020, ABB announced the planned divestment of its Turbocharging Division. Turbocharging is a successful and profitable Division in a mature market and has been for long a highly self-reliant business within ABB. ABB has decided to take this step, acknowledging that for Turbocharging to realize its full potential going forward, a new setup is required. As the next step, alternative ownership options, including a spin-off to the Swiss stock market, will be assessed, considering value for customers, ABB and the future of the turbocharging business. In this role, you will set the global IS application strategy and provide specific IS solutions / services / support activities covering foreign trade requirements and ensure business continuity during and after carve out from ABB. You will be based in Switzerland as part of a talented team who will work closely with you to make this business transformation a great success. Extensive business acumen will be needed. Your responsibilities

  • Lead the implementation project of the new global IS application system (SAP GTS)
  • Align with regional and local TT&L assignments and ensure business continuity during & after carve out process
  • Elaborate / implement SLA and corresponding service monitoring & controlling metrics
  • Manage applicable IS system (covering foreign trade requirements)
  • Ensure highest productivity / efficiency, achieve year-on-year budget figures
  • Enable utilization of FTA opportunities, cost avoidance with highest compliance
  • Secure timely management / availability of foreign trade related information and data
  • Challenge existing practices and continuously develop IS application system
  • Develop / provide tools, analytics, KPIs and dashboards with applicable development teams
  • Set up and manage IS application support organization with the objective to
  • Provide services and collaborate with applicable stakeholders along value chain
  • Contribute to optimization of internal / cross-functional processes
  • Manange the daily business: e.g. system handling, interface authorities, regulatory issues
  • Establish training program
  • Review/ continuous development of organization
  • Ensure continuous support services (deputy)
  • Proactively manage interface with customs authorities (technically and regulatory)
  • Be accountable for IS application performance (availability, productivity, operational costs)

Your background

  • University degree Master of Science in Engineering or Economics
  • Proven track record in comparable position of 5-10 years. Significant experience in foreign trade, i.e. in supply chain management, transport / logistics management and operation / distribution.
  • Experience in sourcing, category management, purchasing, sales, commercial know-how, experience in contract management / negotiations, tools & processes development, change mgmt., problem solving, customs management
  • Current knowledge of the regulations, policies, and laws affecting transport and logistics, including those related to currency, environmental concerns, taxes and security / safety, among other issues, e.g. complex process dependencies, basic legal understanding
  • Project management skills
  • Leadership skills and collaboration with various stakeholders
  • Pro-active, entrepreneurial and strong decision maker
  • International exposure and intercultural experience
  • Good communication and negotiation skills
  • Good networking and social skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English, German is an asset
