Global Infrastructure Architect Turbocharging (80-100%)

November 19, 2020, ABB announced the planned divestment of its Turbocharging Division. Turbocharging is a successful and profitable Division in a mature market and has been for long time a highly self-reliant business within ABB. ABB has decided to take this step, acknowledging that for Turbocharging to realize its full potential going forward, a new setup is required. As the next step, alternative ownership options, including a spin-off to the Swiss stock market, will be assessed, considering value for customers, ABB and the future of the turbocharging business. Our new Global Infrastructure Architect will design, deploy, and migrate systems for IaaS, PaaS, SaaS and traditional environments and is responsible for identification and selection of appropriate cloud services based on requirements and constraints. The role reports into the Global Infrastructure Manager Turbocharging and will be part of Turbocharging’s Global Infrastructure Leadership Team.

Your responsibilities

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of company’s strategic business plans
  • Provide architectural consulting expertise, direction, and assistance to systems analysts, IT cloud engineers and other systems architects
  • Document and develop in-depth knowledge of company’s existing IT cloud architecture / infrastructure, and technology portfolio
  • Develop and manage an IT cloud infrastructure capacity plan
  • Develop, document, communicate, and enforce a cloud technology standards policy
  • Conduct research on emerging cloud technologies in support of infrastructure development efforts and recommend technologies that will increase cost effectiveness and infrastructure flexibility
  • Develop, document, make recommendations, and communicate plans for investing in IT cloud infrastructure, including analysis of cost reduction opportunities
  • Design, develop, and oversee implementation of end-to-end IT cloud integrated systems.
  • Develop and execute test plans to check IT cloud infrastructure and systems technical performance. Report on findings and make recommendations for improvement
  • Develop a service integration architecture strategy for the enterprise (and/or assigned business unit) based on a situational awareness of various business scenarios and motivations
  • Lead senior management through the development of a service integration architecture plan for the enterprise (and/or assigned business unit). Evaluate and present information that will facilitate effective and timely decision-making through written and oral communication materials that effectively summarize findings with recommendations
  • Create technical process model/flows that show technical integration points between applications based upon business requirements
  • Act as a subject matter expert in the development of integration architecture framework, tool suite selection, and design and methodology development.

Your background

  • University degree in computer science, information systems, computer engineering, system analysis, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in a similar role
  • Excellent understanding of typical multi-tier architectures: web servers, caching, application servers, load balancers, and storage
  • Hands-on experience with core LAN/WAN network technologies
  • Experience with route tables, access control lists, firewalls, NAT, HTTP, DNS, IP and OSI Network
  • Knowledge of RESTful Web Services, XML, JSON
  • Familiarity with the software development lifecycle
  • Work experience with information and application security concepts, mechanisms, and tools
  • Awareness of end-user computing and collaborative technologies, large-scale distributed systems architecture and system performance tuning methodologies
  • Information and application security concepts including public key encryption, remote access, access credentials, and certificate-based authentication
  • Proven project planning and management experience
  • Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent knowledge of database solutions, application services, application integration and architecture patterns
  • Deep expertise around industry best practices in the various aspects of IT, technology trends, enterprise operations knowledge, and the ability to develop solutions to implement key business strategies
  • Consulting and relationship management experience working with customers and/or partners
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement and act on it
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Highly self-motivated and directed and the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure.
