The Global Privacy Office is part of the Group Legal Department. As a Global Privacy Counsel you report to the Chief Privacy Officer of the Roche Group.

Aim of this job is, as member of the Global Privacy Office, to ensure global consistency and compliance around data privacy at Roche. The role includes providing guidance on privacy related questions, setting standards, and implementing processes with focus on selected business units and/or global functions.

The position requires working in close partnership with Roche business representatives and representatives from global group and divisional, regional and local functions, and as an active member of the Global Privacy Network.

It is of importance to foster legal compliance while at the same time considering and meeting business requirements.

The key role and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate and further develop privacy processes including suspected data breaches and subject access requests

  • Provide legal guidance and opinions in privacy related matters

  • Support coordination of the Global Privacy Network

  • Do Data Protection Impact Assessments in consultation with IT Security, IT and business functions

  • Prepare and give trainings

Further activities include:
  • Provide general legal guidance beyond privacy related to IT projects and initiatives

  • Support on a case by case basis collaboration opportunities regarding legal aspects including contract drafting and negotiation

Who you are:
  • Completed Law degree

  • Admission to the Bar

  • Experience in data privacy; ideally already in the pharmaceutical industry

  • Strong oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills; demonstrated excellence in building relationships and partnerships at all levels of a matrix organization

  • Displays initiative, integrity, and flexibility

  • Precise and rigorous approach to work (first time right)

  • Business-oriented thinking and action; Sense of urgency

  • Fluent in English is a must, Fluent in German is a big plus
