Position Overview

The Global W&J Business Development & Marketing Senior Director will lead to the 360 go to market approach and tools creation for each product launches, will lead the development of communication tools and campaigns, some of which will be developed and driven globally led by this role, and others that will be advanced in a region or channel by the regional/divisional lead. The primary objective of the role will be to constantly elevate the awareness and desirability of the Jewelry and Watch business around the world that will, in turn, continue to build sales in these businesses, and provide an efficient communication tool package worldwide. The other part of this role will be to develop the business through omnichannel approach providing all the required tools and training, material in partnership with regional leaders and business stakeholders, from merchandising plan to commercial coordination.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Merchandising & Business development

  • Define the best merchandising plan for W&J according to the Company priorities, the Product calendar and production leadtime, respecting the Design leadership expectations.
  • Partner with regional Leaders, buyers, planners, store operations team to create a virtuous circle and accelerate the growth plan
  • Align with global Merchandising team and Regional merchandising to implement the product launch plan in a sustainable and profitable way, through door productivity and an efficient inventory exposure
  • Lead the DTC line openings and support WHS key accounts to prepare successful roll out
  • Identify and appoint relevant Agents in regions to support the business development plan, provide the required tools and support to help the W&J dealers network to drive the door productivity
  • Participate to the LRP, identify the building blocks with W&J lead and set the roadmap for success with key milestone in a “date and gate” approach
  • Develop and maintain relevant training tools, organize the training sessions with L&D team, and participate/animate when required

Marketing

  • Curate the seasonal marketing strategy for assigned businesses by connecting the design and commercial vision to the storytelling arch, prepare relevant tools and 360 launch packages
  • Engage with the brand & divisional leads to understand and develop brand strategies that will support growth in the business divisions
  • Develop a deep understanding of the customer and develop integrated seasonal campaigns that cut through to our consumer through each channel
  • Collaborate with the global merchandising and design teams to ensure that the marketing for each brand is aligned with the seasonal vision of the brand & product
  • Collect and analyze global market information, drawing conclusions on market trends and customer dynamics, and defining opportunities for the Jewelry and Watch business
  • Establish an infrastructure and process to coordinate divisional marketing plans and ensure that exposure is maximized across regions and channels
  • Work in partnership with creative leads to guide the development of creative & marketing tools concepts that can be executed globally according to the brand strategies and to meet the business goals (including visual merchandising, product pictures, assets at large)
  • Cultivate partnerships with creative and design to develop and execute digital story telling for the brand in a manner that is appropriate and catered to each platform in the digital eco-system.
  • Clear, consistent, timely communication to regional & divisional stakeholders of strategies & plans and, thereafter, changes to plans

Communication

  • Define seasonal communications strategies for the Jewelry and Watch business, provide appropriate product presentation tools, assets and content creation with relevant internal and external stakeholders and partners
  • Build and maintain a strong network of media relations, liaise with local PR team and ensure the best visibility of the Brand
  • Sustain an in-depth understanding of the media landscape, & manage media monitoring and reporting in order to measure media impact
  • Manage seasonal special events, in store events (for Press and VIC), provide VIC trunk show support and global planning to monitor results and assets priorities
  • Provide support and guidance to digital team in order to ensure the best customer experience on digital tools (RL.com, WHS.com tools) and drive more traffic and sales in W&J business
  • Support PR Team and manage samples and needs in order to improve the category visibility and Brand consistency

Product Environment

  • Develop and Maintain all relevant product knowledge tools to support business development (Master line, clientele tools, Training tools and Intranet, EPK updates)
  • Develop the Visual merchandising tools and in store presentations, provide appropriate tools to support the launches, in store presentation and visual merchandising, and product samples
  • Develop & produce all product environment tools for customer like leaflet, warranty cards, packaging and all others non-sellable items required to ensure the best customer experience
  • Support other Marketing activities related to product knowledge, wording and copy consistency, shooting and styles recommendations according to launches or market needs, picture validation, assets for press release, materials colors and all related product knowledge

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

  • 8+ years of luxury business development, merchandising and marketing experience
  • Genuine understanding of the Ralph Lauren brand
  • Relevant experience in brand marketing in Watches & Jewelry business
  • Ability to generate innovative ideas that can be brought to life in a financially responsible way
  • Desire to seek opportunities and lead change with optimism and enthusiasm
  • Ability to balance business and brand considerations in both big picture and day-to-day ways
  • In depth understanding of the digital landscape
  • Experience managing teams and influencing stakeholders and partners
  • Capacity to build strong internal and external working relationships
  • Ability to influence the conversation using multiple strategies and approaches
  • Ability to navigate a matrixed and multi-stakeholder organization
  • Appreciation for the unique nature of the Ralph Lauren business model
