Founded in 2004 by a group of PhD students as a spin-off from the University of Zurich, Molecular Partners AG is a thriving and steadily growing clinical stage biotech company located in Zurich-Schlieren (Switzerland) with 160 highly qualified employees.

In order to advance modern medicine and significantly improve the management of serious diseases, we have developed and successfully established a powerful new class of potent, specific and versatile small protein therapies, called DARPin® therapeutics.

The continuous development of a broad portfolio of therapeutic product candidates in oncology and ophthalmology based on the company’s proprietary DARPin® platform allowed a successful listing of the company on the SIX Swiss Exchange (ticker: MOLN). Next to our own pipeline of drug candidates we have entered into collaborations with leading international pharmaceutical companies, including Abbvie, Amgen, Novartis, Roche and Janssen Pharmaceuticals.

The highly dedicated, multi-disciplined team at MP is committed to developing breakthrough medicines for serious diseases.

We are currently expanding. From research to clinical development, Translational Medicine focuses on the activities that increase the speed of the development and delivery of our innovative treatments/promising assets.

As Clinical Biomarker Group Leader, you will lead a team of Clinical Biomarker scientists and have responsibility for development and effective implementation of biomarker strategies in support of clinical development projects. Working as part of the Translational Medicine function, the clinical biomarker team will establish and implement biomarker strategy to enable informed clinical decisions via working collaboratively across research, translational, bioanalytical and clinical teams, and employ cutting edge technologies and procedures to discover and clinically validate biomarkers.

A successful candidate can inspire and lead a team, prioritize multiple projects, communicate and advance biomarker studies within a matrix organization, and leverage information from a variety of sources in order to deliver effective, fit for purpose biomarker strategies, quality data, and interpretation of biomarker results to drive program decisions.

This challenging and diverse position will include the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Clinical Biomarker Leads/scientists and responsible for development and effective implementation of biomarker strategies in support of clinical development projects
  • Collaborate with research, translational and clinical colleagues to establish and defend scientifically rigorous biomarker strategies that assess proof of mechanism, establish early signs of efficacy, enable proof of concept studies, and generate an understanding of the variability in patient response
  • Responsible for biomarker sections in clinical documents (protocols, SoA, ICF, lab manual, CSR)
  • Setup and lead collaborative biomarker sub-teams with technical, translational, and clinical colleagues to execute biomarker strategy
  • Leverages external CROs and vendors along with appropriate internal laboratories to ensure timely resourcing, fit-for-purpose biomarker assay development and sample analyses
  • Work closely with clinical operation and QA teams to ensure compliance around clinical biospecimen management and vendor oversight
  • Accountable for timely delivery of internally or externally generated biomarker data for analysis
  • Works with biomarker and clinical teams to interpret biomarker results in the context of the clinical study
  • Share learnings with key stakeholders and the scientific community through presentations and peer-reviewed publications.

For this position, we are looking for a highly motivated individual bringing along:

  • MD or PhD in life science, preferably in immunology or oncology;

  • Demonstrated scientific acumen, ability to translate mechanistic understanding of disease biology and drug development into biomarker endpoints;
  • Experienced in clinical drug development, clinical protocol design, clinical trial operations, clinical trial biospecimen logistics, analytical, clinical validation of biomarker assays, and vendor interactions;
  • Able to effectively lead matrix teams made up of research, technical, and clinical colleagues;
  • Able to recognize, articulate, and accept calculated risks to make informed decisions;
