The Project Scientist - Time of Flight Analyzer performs research (biology, chemistry, mechanical, software, etc.) to generate analytical data for internal and/or external clients. Responsible for the investigation of new technologies and experimentation directed at the practical application of scientific theories. Assures that programs meet scientific objectives and are aligned with customer needs. Builds relationships with industry/technology key opinion leaders.This position is located in Concord, Ontario. Relocation may be provided.Essential Duties, Critical Success Factors, Responsibilities, Authorities and Required Interactions:
  • Works individually as well as with scientific and engineering teams to ensure that projects remain on track. Assembles instruments, initiates studies, generates reports, presentations, and publications. Work is aligned to project deliverables.
  • Defines improvements and innovations related to time of flight analyzers and works with engineering teams to implement and test.
  • Conducts hands on troubleshooting of instruments and complex or unusual problems.
  • Works with scientists and engineers to identify risks related to new technologies and propose and test a range of possible solutions.
  • Carries out the technical evaluation of novel hardware and software solutions.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
  • Minimum of an M.Sc. in a relevant field such as Chemistry, Physics, Biology. Ph.D strongly preferred, plus 5+ years of Mass Spec experience
  • Experience with time of flight mass spectrometry is a MUST
Additional Requirements:
  • Travel to visit customers and attend conferences on an infrequent basis
