This leadership position represents a unique opportunity to join Alpiq and decisively shape our Legal & Compliance function. The role, which becomes available as part of our forward looking succession planning for the next 1-2 years, offers many interesting facets and a high level of complexity, both on the operational as well as the strategic level. As we are at the forefront of the global energy transition and in pursuit of our vision to create sustainable value for customers and partners, society and the environment, we are looking for a legal entrepreneur and passionate leader with the skills and expertise to turn the function into a business enabler for the whole organization. This role reports directly to our Head Corporate Services and is to be based in Switzerland, at our offices in Olten or Lausanne.

Your Main Responsibilities
  • Assurance provider in legal affairs and for financial regulatory market integrity and trading compliance
  • Preparation and supervision of public law issues, consultations, in particular on electricity law, building law, water law, nuclear energy law, appropriation law, procedural law, debt collection and bankruptcy law
  • Performing a proactive advisory and support function (service functions) for all legal transactions of the Alpiq Group and for its Executive Board and Board of Directors, including M&A matters
  • Maintaining a group-wide compliance management system
  • Drafting and maintaining bylaws, regulations and directives that affect the entire Group
  • Managing a team of in-house lawyers in Switzerland and abroad
Your Qualifications
  • Excellent educational background and practice in German speaking legal systems
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role with international exposure and relevant people management
  • Several years of experience in the energy industry, including energy commodity trading
  • Strong business partnering skills and ability to negotiate and influence across all functions and levels of the organization
  • Modern management style, leading by example and lived feedback culture
  • Fluent English required, German or French a plus
