Mission of the Division:

  • To ensure a coherent ‘One WWF, One Voice’ by integrating and supporting the communications, media and brand functions across the network (Practices, NOs and POs).
  • To engage audiences across the globe to accelerate conservation impact, influence decision makers and to build the WWF brand.
  • To facilitate and coordinate the development and alignment to a global brand, media and communications strategy.
  • To provide a Centre of Excellence to the Network and convene the Communications Community in terms of communications practice, media (digital, broadcast, print), coordination across Practices, techniques, platforms and internal communications.
  • To provide common technology platforms Network-wide to enable communication with key audiences.

Major Functions:

  • Builds the strategy around keeping the various audiences in the Network informed and united.
  • Works with the WWF leadership and communities to identify content that should be communicated across the organisation.
  • Manages internal communication platforms such as Workplace, Network Leaders’ calls, internal events and Mail chimp.
  • Collates information and develops narrative around key initiatives to be shared across the Network.
  • Project manages flagship Network-wide projects for example the Living Planet Report and EIU Report on consumer sentiment.
  • Internal stakeholder management to ensure inclusive and representative communication.
  • Helps build internal communications capacity within the network by working with the community of communicators and sharing best practices for effective internal communications and content sharing.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development and the implementation of the Internal Communications strategy in consultation with the Unit Heads, the Director of Safeguards, the DGO, and the Practices; also for helping to develop internal communications capacity in the network.
  • Responsible for identifying the most optimum tools available for effective internal communications across the network - and evaluating them with the heads of Media, Content and Technology.
  • Assist in the development of a communications strategy to position the Director General and President, International to make the most of strategic opportunities.
  • Ensures external and internal communication is joined up and complementary.
  • Reports on major external and internal events to keep staff up to date with priorities and achievements.
  • Produce various regular communication for leaders and staff.
  • Manage internal communication channels.
  • Tailor messages and approaches for various internal audiences, including data-driven communication and setting up processes.
  • Managing internal communications reporting including for major internal events such as the Annual Conference.

Profile:

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in communications, PR, Journalism or related subject.
  • At least seven years’ relevant professional experience in journalism, PR, or organizational communications.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Ability to deliver multiple simultaneous projects.
  • Articulate, creative, passionate, flexible and tenacious.
  • Absolute discretion, tact, diplomacy and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and spoken English – other languages and advantage.
  • Experience in conservation and environmental issues.
  • Ability to work as part of a team in a multicultural environment.

Working Relationships:

Internal -Interacts closely with the Director General, President and Senior Management team, Director, Safeguards, Conservation Director, WWF International communication and marketing staff, Network and Practice leadership and communications staff, Director General Office staff, Senior network staff as required (programmes, corporate and chief executives).

External -Interacts with project partners/collaborators as and when required.
