Job Description


To support MindMaze growth, we are looking for our new Head of Accounting. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounting department and ensuring that all financial reporting is accurate and timely. You will also be responsible for developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures, as well as training and supervising a small team. Preparing tax returns and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations will also fall under your responsibility.

You will:

  • Oversee all aspects of the accounting department, including but not limited to financial reporting, general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and tax compliance
  • Ensure that all financial reporting deadlines are met in a timely and accurate manner
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Coordinate audits by external auditors and provide necessary information and support
  • Serve as a business partner to other departments within the organization, providing financial analysis and decision-support as needed
  • Train and develop accounting staff members, providing mentorship and guidance as needed
  • Stay abreast of changes in GAAP and tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance
  • Manage special projects as assigned by senior management
  • Need to perform other accounting activities such as journal entries posting, payroll entries and reconciliations
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent related field
  • 8+ years of experience in an accounting role ideally in both public and corporate accounting
  • CPA certification
  • Working knowledge of GAAP
  • Excellent knowledge of Swiss Taxes, Payroll and regulations
  • Good knowledge of an ERP Accounting system
  • Experience in leading a team of accountants
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Very good communication skills
  • High level of agility and flexibility
  • Fluent in French and English (ideally C1 in both)

Icing on the cake

  • MBA or Master’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field (or equivalent such as Swiss Federal Diploma in Finance and Controlling / Swiss Federal certificate in Finance and Accounting)
  • Experience in a start-up or willingness to join a scale-up
  • Experience working in an accounting firm
  • Strong understanding of tax compliance regulations
