At a Glance:
The Head of Apparel Design will be representing Design and Creative on the Product Creation Triad that includes Design, Product Management and Development. It will further develop and shape On’s apparel product identity by art directing and creating a compelling product aesthetics in partnership with marketing and development. This position will represent and lead the apparel design team to bring together the best of both worlds, fashion and innovative performance wear that also reflects On’s clear design language and heritage. Despite the fact that our DNA is undoubtedly performance running and that we want to cater to the highest of functional requirements, we insist that our designers are, besides their personal interest in sport, up to date and well informed about what’s going on in the world of contemporary design and fashion.
Your Team:
You will work in the On design studio within an international team, shaping the future On product line up. The design team includes footwear, apparel and spatial designers who all closely collaborate with shoe developers, product managers, material and innovation specialists, art directors and marketing professionals.
Your Mission:

• Lead the direction, ideation, conception and design of On’s apparel and soft accessories in close collaboration with Global Head of Design and rest of the product board to achieve a holistic brand image across product categories
• You will work on leading and developing concepts, mock-ups, visuals, 2D and 3D files for new projects.
• You will fuel the team with the latest trends in the performance industry and fashion/streetwear scene but you also have that gut feel on what to design next without relying on forecasts of trend researcher
• You think out of the box when designing new products and you’re courageous to come up with unique designs that disrupt the market.
• Sustainability is not just marketing for you it’s a key component of your everyday work. You bring fundamental knowledge of industry standards and you have the goal to set the bar higher. You are keen to work closely with innovation to come up with new material solutions for the apparel team.
• Represent product design and the creative vision on the product creation triad (Product Management, Design, Development) in driving On’s product vision, future growth strategies, diversity & inclusion and innovation
• Manage On’s apparel design team and liaise with its network of internal and external stakeholders
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders in Product Development, Material, Innovation, Marketing and Sales to build and sell-in the range. Work at this complex cross section of interests and know how to push and drive projects.

Your Story:

• You have a higher education within apparel design, art direction or another creative study
• You have 12+ years of design experience in the performance and/or fashion apparel industry; you also are knowledgeable about latest trends in the fashion/streetwear scene
• Strong experience in developing, shaping and directing a creative vision and brand direction in partnership with marketing and development
• You have several years of people management experience with at least 3-5 direct reports
• You know the global apparel market with its different regions and competitors
• You are experienced and can demonstrate that you are able to strategically build a holistic and forward thinking product portfolio in collaboration with stakeholders
• You have demonstrated exceptional design skills, taste and progressive design aesthetic
• You have exceptional product engineering skills, in order to make the design development more tangible and create mock-ups or even prototypes
• You have an entrepreneurial spirit, a high sense of responsibility and the ability to manage and drive a project.
• You have excellent communication and storytelling skills in both written and spoken English
