Lonza in Visp is looking for a Head of Automation. This role includes: Planning and execution of automation activities (USP, DSP) in the BioAtrium. This in close cooperation with the Head of USP and Head of DSP. This also includes the overarching resource planning, recruiting, training and development of the automation personnel. This in close cooperation with the services of the Visp location, including training, the HR team, the recruiting team and the other companies at the Visp location.

Key responsibilities:

  • Create, track and maintain the short term schedules to provide visibility to defined departments to drive short term execution of plans

  • Supports the planning and execution of automation activities (USP, DSP, etc.)

  • Provision of personnel for automation activities based on the planning.

  • Supports the CAPEX projects with his team for automation activities

  • Superordinate personnel planning, organization of overtime, including the need for temporary or fixed team changes.

  • Responsible for training needs analysis in the production support area and training plan for production employees.

  • Performance management, employee development, career planning, succession planning for direct reports

  • Responsible for attendance management, absences planning, absences regulations

  • Determine staffing requirements: Using a preview, create a plan for the utilization of projects over a period of 1 year

  • Responsible for recruiting, onboarding and developing production employees.

  • Supports USP and DSP in the preparation and follow-up of automation activities

Key requirements:

  • Bachelor / Master preferably in chemistry and chemical engineering or Chemical and pharmaceutical technologist

  • Good experience in MES und DeltaV

  • Fluency in German and English is required

  • Understanding of business and financial processes

  • Structured, focused and well organized work ethic

  • Recognizes risks in relation to security or compliance / GMP, discusses them and helps to rectify them.

  • He recognizes operational optimization potential.

  • Independently implements the measures assigned to him to optimize security, costs or operational processes.
