The Head of Business Performance Analysis assumes responsibilities for all strategic & financial analysis, key performance indicators (KPIs), management reporting, and broader financial operating rhythms for the ABB Group. Reporting to the Group Head of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), the Head of Business Performance Analysis will be an integral part of the strategic planning process, the Planning and Performance Management (PPM) core ABB process, and the ABB Way Finance Transformation Program. This talent will offer meaningful analyses and financial perspectives necessary for investor communications, Board of Director (BoD)/Corporate decision making, strategic planning, capital allocation, capital structure decisions, and ABB-wide portfolio management to optimize company-wide value creation and shareholder returns. This role will be based at ABB Headquarters in Zurich, CH. We are seeking a strategic financial leader with world-class communication skills, who has excellence in analytics, data structuring, analytics that drive cashflow transparency and optimization, inventive productivity metrics, and has the skills to build a best-in-class business performance analysis function and team. The ideal candidate will bring a combination of financial expertise, including previously leading a FP&A organization at a corporate/division/business unit level in an industrial manufacturing and services environment, as well as a classic finance skillset including experience with financial systems, tools, and data at an operating level, and a proficient understanding of management accounting, controllership, and risk processes. The candidate must be able to identify and prioritize business value drivers and demonstrate a track record of implementing actionable analysis and metrics to drive enterprise value creation. The candidate would have prior experience in the finance function as a leader of multiple international operating teams and operating units to deliver accurate and actionable metrics and plans in complex environments. A simplification mindset is critical. The candidate would also demonstrate integrity, compliance, accountability, transparency, and speed as core values in how they and their teams operate and behave.

Your responsibilities

• The Head of Business Performance Analysis will lead all management reporting and performance management (most notably the Performance Scorecard system, a Board of Directors and CEO level priority) for ABB, as well as leading monthly management reporting and estimation cycles.
• The candidate will partner with Human Resources senior leadership and Corporate Planning to develop, propose, implement, monitor, and enforce the ABB Annual Incentive Plan (AIP) and LTIP bonus processes. The candidate will take on an active company-wide leadership role in the ABB Way Finance Transformation Program specifically in the Plan to Deliver (P2D) Global End-to-End process by working directly with the program team to create cornerstones of the new ABB Management Reporting Transformation.
• The Head of Business Performance Analysis will also be the owner of the Group Core KPI model, will create and develop new Core KPI’s with input from strategic and operational business stakeholders (such as external revenue segmentation including Digital reporting as well as long-term strategic ESG/Sustainability KPI roadmaps), help to define the new Management Reporting and Measurement system for ABB using a split “set of books” structure for Performance Evaluation and data flows. This individual will be a key thought leader for the design and implementation of the new suite of digital Management Reporting tools at ABB, ownership of all existing core management reporting systems and tools, and will help to determine how the company should measure the financial performance of organizational units spanning from Business Areas and Global Divisions to deeper levels of financial accountability in ABB.

Your background

• BS degree in Finance, Economics, or Business Management; Master’s degree a positive factor, but not a requirement
• 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience in a fast-paced multi-national, industrial, technology company
• Must have strong operational finance experience (expertise in commercial finance, pricing, risk, gross margin expansion levers) with domain expertise in FP&A and how to tactically drive and measure value creation, supply chain and service business finance of a dynamic and multinational environment, restructuring and structural cost optimization
• Proven understanding of different business models such as flow products, configured solutions, long-cycle projects with world-class margin review processes, service, digital offerings, software, and embedded devices
• Experience creating efficiency in the Finance function by driving simplification, standard data policies and harmonization, organizational taxonomy clarity, and LEAN management principles
• Experience working in a highly international business environment as well as in complex, matrix organizations.
• A dynamic change agent: someone who can visibly deliver on goals and objectives in an inclusive, humble, but action-oriented manner. An agile, strategic thinker with excellent communication and presentation skills. The ability to clearly communicate and earn the trust of C-Suite leaders as well as with Senior Operators and Commercial Leaders at all levels of the company.
