MSC Cruises is looking for an experienced professional in the field of legal Compliance, willing to take the lead in the second-phase development and deployment of the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Compliance System. The head of Compliance shall proactively contribute to strengthen the internal control procedures to ensure that MSC Cruises and its affiliates meet their stakeholders’ expectations and legal requirements about Sanction regimes, Anti-bribery and corruption, Anti money laundering, and other regulatory frameworks applying to the Company’s business.

  • Perfect command of English (spoken and written). Fluency in French or Italian or any other language would be an advantage;
  • Law degree. Post-graduate qualification, compliance-related training and/or admission to the bar is an advantage;
  • 10+ years post-qualification experience in compliance within a law firm and/or legal department of a multinational company. ideally, whilst not a pre-requisite, the candidate will have both law firm and corporate experience in a multinational company. Specific experience in the cruise sector is an advantage;
  • Strong communication and persuasion skills at all company levels;
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast paced and rapidly evolving industry and work environment;
  • Good interpersonal skills and teamwork;
  • Proactive, great attention to details and commitment to deliver work quality;
  • Knowledge of the Shipping, Travel and Transport industries is an asset.
The candidate will work under the supervision of the Chief Legal Officer and in cooperation with the Internal Audit and Risk Management and will be requested to:

  • Revise, integrate, further develop, maintain the policies and procedures forming part of the company’s Compliance package;
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, with focus on Sanction regimes, Anti-bribery and corruption, Anti money laundering;
  • Manage the reporting platform, promote and participate into investigations on reported cases in cooperation with Internal Audit;
  • Coordinate with Compliance and Financial Services at MSC Group level;•Assist in responding to request of competent authorities and stakeholders, participate to authorities’ investigations in collaboration with external law firms, local legal counsels;
  • Assist in the due diligence of suppliers, partners, clients, including the operation of the passengers and crewmembers compliance screening platform;
  • Assure legal monitoring within the areas of compliance and the coordination with external legal counsels where required, reporting related law changes and potential legal issues;
  • Promote and control the implementation of the company’s policies on compliance, communicating, performing trainings and due diligence;
  • Revise compliance related documents or clauses, to preserve the Company’s contractual interests with customers, suppliers or business partners;
  • Actively promote the building of a culture of best practice in compliance throughout the Company and its affiliates.
