HEAD OF HUMAN RESOURCES, EUROPE AND GCC

Position Summary

This Zug-based position leads the Human Resources function in Europe and GCC, providing general HR leadership, advice and support on workforce matters, including responsibilities for organizational development, policies and programs covering employment, compensation, benefits, performance management, employee relations, recruiting and retention, and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations in Europe and GCC.

The position reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer with a functional reporting relationship to the Senior Vice President, Head of Europe and GCC.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Being a member of the Human Resources Senior Leadership Team, which is responsible for setting the global talent strategy for GBT
  • Being a member of the European Leadership Team
Company Culture
  • Fully align the GBT values and One Culture of GBT by working with leaders and teams and providing guidance to the Europe and GCC HR team and the global HR team
  • Collaborate with leaders to champion and accelerate an environment that demonstrates a passion for our mission and model our values in which people feel engaged and inspired to deliver top business results
  • Design and assist in the implementation of a regional internal communications strategy to support our Company culture and enable the effective flow of internal communications to all Europe and GCC based employees
  • Develop strong collaboration and synergy with the corporate communication team and HR team to ensure One Culture across all of GBT
Business Partnering
  • Partner with the Head of Europe and GCC and CHRO to drive the strategy for the organizational build and evolution in Europe
  • Implement an annual agenda for HR strategy in line with the business plan and global workforce objectives
  • Ensure HR programs are timely and support the needs of the business but are also flexible enough to cope with changes in the organization, as and when they occur
  • Serve as an internal coach and facilitator to European and GCC leaders in achieving business goals, establishing leadership practices, and fostering collaboration across the local, regional, and global organization
  • Manage employee relations issues and meet with managers and employees to determine effective interventions for resolution. Partner with internal and external legal counsel as needed
  • Strong business partner for the Zug based Headquarters, as well as the country-based organizations. Alignment in philosophy and processes and ensuring the right balance between global, regional, and country needs
Talent Acquisition
  • Establish a best in class talent acquisition strategy. In collaboration with the US talent acquisition team provide structures, processes, and tools to facilitate the recruitment process and related partnerships with external vendors while aligning with the GBT employer brand
  • Identify strategies to differentiate GBT and attract the best talent. Oversee and support hiring managers in the hiring and on-boarding process from start to finish
Compensation & Benefits
  • In partnership with the Global Head of Total Rewards:
    • Ensure salary benchmarks are in place and maintained for all roles and countries
    • Establish and maintain comprehensive benefit plans and provisions for every country
    • Lead the execution of the annual compensation review process in Europe
Talent Development
  • Provide overall leadership and guidance on career and capability development, the anticipation of future competency needs and related gaps, succession planning, and talent retention,
  • Partner with HR colleagues to establish and execute a development framework, aligning leadership, individual and team development, technical training, and other competency- building initiatives
  • Lead the execution of the annual talent review process in Europe
HR Operations
  • In partnership with the Global Head of HR Operations & Analytics and the Finance organization:
    • Ensure compliant and efficient payroll processes.
    • Standardize global HR processes with an emphasis on automation and employee/manager self-service as much as possible.
People Leadership
  • Demonstrate organizational leadership and model the GBT’s values (Innovation, Inclusion, Accountability, and Community)
  • Demonstrate the ability to attract talent and create a culture of collaboration and teamwork that fosters open communication, constructive conflict, and organizational flexibility
  • Ensure alignment of responsibilities between solid and dotted line management
  • Broad cultural orientation, ideally with experience working outside Switzerland in an international context
European Facilities
  • Provide organizational leadership and oversight on all matters related to EU based facilities and office operations, maintenance, and security
  • Responsible for managing, developing and implementing environmental, health and safety (EHS) procedures and programs to ensure GBT’s activities follow applicable laws and reduce risks
  • This role will provide dynamic leadership to the EU office manager team as well as analyze, budget and make decisions based on data and needs
  • Partner with finance to develop and manage budgets, forecasts, long range business and operational plans for EU facilities
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • Masters or advanced degree preferred
  • 15+ years’ HR experience with at least 7 years’ experience in the EU pharmaceutical industry with a strong background in commercial-stage organizations
  • Fluency in English mandatory and other European language(s) are a plus
  • Significant experience in integrating culture into people processes and programs
  • Experience in a rapidly growing organization with responsibility for creating solutions and processes where none had existed previously
  • Considerable experience leading large-scale, complex change and transformation projects
  • Interacts successfully by creating alignment horizontally and vertically with internal and external stakeholders and can influence and direct people in line management and matrix management environments
  • Executive presence with the ability to communicate the vision of GBT and a passion for science-based brands that can dramatically improve patients’ lives
  • Well-organized, high energy, detail-oriented, and persistent; can identify/focus on critical issues, prioritize efforts, and ensure follow up with timely/quality results
  • Able to leverage one’s understanding of the external environment to anticipate future trends, identify risks, and create opportunities for GBT
  • Excellent presentation and communication/negotiation skills with an ability to efficiently and productively communicate both orally and in writing at all levels
  • The highest ethics and moral standards; unquestioned integrity
  • Travel is estimated to be 20-30%, with the majority being within Europe but occasional travel to the USA
