Our client is a mid-sized Trading and Supply Company in the metals business with 20 years of success. The company is headquartered in Zug / Switzerland with representative offices in North- / Middle- and South-America, Africa, Australia and Asia.

We are looking to fill the important position as

Global Head of Operations

Reporting directly to the CEO in Switzerland, this position will define and lead all aspects of the Logistics Operations to support sales and operational requirements. The role will partner with other departments, such as Trading, Finance and Quality Management to build account stability and customer satisfaction.

Being responsible to develop positive relationships with both internal and external customers, this role will also be responsible for streamlining and optimizing the logistics processes and organization to reduce cost structure.

Your main Responsibilities:
  • Leading, supporting and coaching of a Team in Traffic Operations
  • Defining internal processes within operations team and between other departments/field offices
  • Daily communication with the field offices abroad
  • Cooperate with Traders, Finance, QQC and LME desks.
  • Assisting to coordinate shipments with Traders and Operations Team
  • Assisting to negotiate terms for container shipments with shipping lines on spot and long term basis
  • Calculating and settling laytime calculations with vessel owners, suppliers, and receivers
  • Providing Traders with freight market intelligence, rate indications, and forecasts
  • Administrational and operational tasks in the field office
  • Contract administration, transport, warehousing, insurance, commodity and currency hedging, documentation, payments, claim handling
Your Education and Experience:
  • Degree in Logistics, Supply Chain
  • 7 - 10 years of operations experience within the commodity trading industry in Base Metals Concentrates (Copper, Zinc, Lead) - mandatory
  • Teamlead experience on a global basis (preferably)
  • Ability to work under time pressure and in a changing environment
  • Strong team player
  • Must be able to handle a steady / firm workload, take own initiative and work long hours until job is complete
  • Must be competent / reliable and willing to carry responsibility
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Good command in English (Company language), any other language would be an asset (i.e. Spanish, German)
