  • The Head QHSE is responsible for all QHSE topics with special focus on plant and process safety, occupational health and safety, quality as well as environmental protection by Supporting the functions and units in all QHSE aspects during operation and projects and ensure that appropriate QHSE expertise is available for all units and functions
  • Being the principal advisor to the site manager about QHSE topics Ensuring compliance with QHSE related legal, Group and Bayer Crop Science requirements and obtaining required permits for plant construction and operation and be key contact for authorities
  • Maintaining and further developing an efficient Integrated QHSE Management system (e.g. ensuring QHSE KPIs have been monitored and agreed with responsible staff)
  • Developing and implementing QHSE related guidelines, work instructions and SOPs
  • Continuing QHSE improvement for all functions and units, through annual objectives, management reviews and audits
  • Leading the safety engineers, the environmental officers, the quality managers and the plant and process safety experts at Muttenz site
  • Supervising and management of the training of the employees on site with respect on health, safety, and environmental topics
  • Planning, observing and documenting operational QHSE budget Managing of product and service complaints and initiation of corrective/preventive measures (CAPA) and ensuring that specification requirements are met for raw materials and products
  • Ensuring appropriate emergency preparedness and response and carry out incident investigations and communicate lessons learned across the production network (AIM) or globally
  • Ensuring that QHSE auditsat the Muttenz site are achieved and that following action plans are developed, implemented, and monitor the progress of such plans
  • Reviewing new investment projects and ensure system security and consistency with QHSE requirements
  • Supervising the entire authorization process being the key contact partner for the legal authorities and establish a positive relationship with the authorities, support contact with global QHSE group and represent the site in global Bayer QHSE network ensuring a smooth and effective integration of onePSS into QHSE and vice versa being a member of the HSE AIM best practice network, deriving HSE initiatives and rolling out of HSE best practices at the site
  • Fostering exchange activities with enabling functions like global/regional SSHE and Quality
WHO YOU ARE:
  • Higher degree with minimum MSc in Natural Sciences, ideally PhD
  • Min. 5 years working experience in an industrial environment
  • Knowledge in chemistry
  • Satisfies requirements of international standards e.g. for a Quality auditor
  • Profound knowledge about legal framework and QHSE requirements
  • Profound knowledge about occupational safety and work safety in lab environments
  • Proven personnel leadership responsibility
  • Demonstrates high level of commitment, initiative and flexibility
  • Ability to work autonomously and in processes
  • Good ability to work cross functionally
  • Very good communication and leadership skills
  • Good analytical skills
  • Fluent German and English is a must. Any other languages are a plus
