Head of Strategy & Business Development

Our Process Industries divisions is a leading provider of automation, electrification and industry-specific solutions for the mining, pulp & paper, metals, battery manufacturing and other industries. We are looking for an experienced strategy professional to join the global division management team, leading the Strategy & Business Development function. The Head of Strategy & Business Development reports to the division president.

Your responsibilities

• Leading and developing the Strategy & Business Development function
• Identifying, scoping and leading projects of critical strategic importance to the division – delivering high quality results against often tight deadlines
• Condense complex questions into pragmatic analytical frameworks and develop decision-/ implementation-ready solutions
• Defining, together with the Global Product Group Managers, strategic directions to acquire and retain a competitive advantage; work in close collaboration with other functions to ensure alignment with financial plans, workforce planning, R&D spend and sales efforts
• Acting as eye-level discussion partner and thought leader in close interaction with the Division management team and other ABB senior and executive management
• You will be leading the preparation of high-impact documents enabling discussion and decision making in executive management meetings, up to the ABB Executive Committee and Board of Directors level
• Cascading the division strategy and the initiatives prioritized, in close collaboration with marketing Communications, to the whole organization
• Ensuring follow-up to the strategic initiatives defined, mobilizing the whole division management team and escalating issues where needed
• Further develop and maintain business intelligence information, identifying adequate sources, to map competitive position and enable strategic decisions
• Leading the transformation program leveraging a direct report (Project Manager)

Your background

• 10+ years relevant work experience preferred, ideally acquired in a combination of roles in top-tier management consulting and industry
• Excellent project-management and leadership skills – must have led major strategy projects and teams in the past with demonstrated excellent results
• Independently prioritize and make tradeoffs in a strategic, semi-quantitative environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (English)
• Good understanding of industrial space and Process Industries’ markets; direct experience in the markets served is a plus.
• Ability to thrive in dynamic, international and increasingly digital work environment
• You will have the ability to effectively guide and leverage project teams across levels, functions, and regions, without formal reporting relationships
• Ability to influence key decisions and align stakeholders to get proper buy-in
• Bias towards pragmatic action and initiating engagement with others
