This is a significant opportunity for an experienced HSSE/SA Manager who wishes to take the next step in his/ her career progression. Successful applicants must be able to demonstrate excellent multi-disciplined skills and experience in a senior capacity, ideally in the client’s sector. The role will be based in one of the Hub countries, with travel to other national facilities throughout Hub with periodic visits to service/ project export activities executed outside of Hub. As the Hub HSE Manager and Local Division HSE Advisor you will ensure that the respective countries operate in alignment with Health, Safety, Environment & Security, Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility (standards and policies as per ABB’s Sustainability strategy. Coach, support and provide specialist knowledge and advice to Hub Local Division teams on HSSE, Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility matters and report on the KPIs of the respective organization. Reporting to the Hub Division Manager Central & Southern Europe, you will contribute to the continued global success of the business.

Your responsibilities

  • Drives behavioral change to continuously improve HSE, Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility (CR) performance through coordinated Division/ Group-wide performance improvement programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborates with Hub HSE colleagues and Division support resources to identify, share, and coach others in best practices and applies Group/ Division standardized processes/ instructions to deliver consistent support within the respective organizations.
  • Consolidates data from various sources including Intelex, perform trending and analysis on Hub and country performance and reports on HSSE incidents to regulators, Global/ LD/ Country/ Hub Managers.
  • Participate/ conduct incident investigations and reviews to determine root causes, identifying organization weaknesses, areas for improvement, ensuring follow up, lessons learnt assurance and continuous improvements.
  • Engages external (e.g., customers, suppliers, relevant authorities, and other stakeholders) and internal stakeholders in order to report on, raise awareness and gain commitment on ABB’s HSSE and Sustainability efforts and performance and obtain objective feedback.
  • Ensure effective two-way flow of information to and from LD’s - Cascade information from Division HSSE into LBU’s within HUB and feedback on performance.
  • Contributes to and plans and executes HSSE, Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility (CR) related projects. Develops and reports on project objectives. Where necessary, manages project resources such as manpower, financials and other relevant factors.
  • Cooperates with other functions and business partners, integrating HSSE into all processes to drive performance. Participate in the HSSE Leadership Team for the Division, contribute the generation of a Division Strategy to Manage BU Specific risks/ opportunities.
  • Provides support services to ensure that Management Systems in the Hub countries meet corporate, Division and local legal requirements including ISO 14000/ ISO 45001 HSSE performance goals.
  • Ensures that the area of responsibility is appropriately organized, staffed, skilled and directed. Guides, motivates and develops direct/ indirect subordinates within HR policies.
  • Tracks and assesses Hub/ country-related emerging trends and legislation and communicates country relevant information on HSSE local legal requirements.
  • Assists Hub Manager, extended team & LD teams in understanding their obligations, liability and how to fulfil their role, according to local HSSE law & Global Division instructions.

Your background

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HSSE Management, Environmental Diploma IEMA or equivalent education
  • 12+ years industry experience as an HSSE professional, including at least 5 years in a lead role.
  • Knowledge in managing HSSE for large and complex projects, with integration of automation and electrical part, field instrumentation and erection.
  • Ability to travel global as required (up to 20%)
  • Cultural leadership attitude to drive virtual, Corporate Responsibility (CR) & cross-country teams with an international mindset.
  • Working experience in an organization utilizing behavior-based safety approaches preferred.
  • Collaborative, solutions-oriented approach, and strong written and verbal communication in English (B2 minimum required)
