With increased integration of our solutions into IT and OT, system understanding, and architecture will gain further importance. Our Global Industrial Division is expanding the Global R&D team by building a new R&D competence center in Switzerland, facilitating an end-to-end development of our high-end terminals, paving the way to leverage Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), with the terminal as a key-component in edge computing. That is why we are looking for a motivated IIoT Solution Architect 80%-100% (f/m/d).

This role is based in our global operational Headquarters in Nänikon-Greifensee.

In this role, you will be part of the new R&D team who will shape the future of METTTLER TOLEDO products in the journey towards device connectivity and IIoT solutions.

Your responsibilities would include:

* Be a key member of the team who defines the future system architecture for the Industrial division. This involves software solutions across the entire technology stack, with IIoT and device connectivity as a major part of it.

* Define the IIoT solution architecture design, which will shape and optimize the production environment of our customers.

* Design solutions that comply to all demands in terms of cyber security, have strong customer orientation with an emphasis on scalability, modularity, flexibility, serviceability, and performance.

* Bring experience in Device Identity Provisioning, Connectivity Configuration / Management, device claiming and device "fleet" monitoring area etc.

* Define / consult IIoT capability roadmaps and embed these into the overruling divisional software roadmap.

* Shape the underlying data-pipeline and define criteria, how customer data is used in our IIoT solutions.

* Shape the selection process for client, server, storage, and cloud infrastructure solutions, and be part of strategic decision making (buy, build, partner).

* Guide innovation projects with the target to develop outstanding IIoT services.

* Work closely with your cooperation partners, who are product managers, software development team, IT security and cloud infrastructure team.

Following requirements are necessary for this role:

* Master/ Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science (Informatics, Computer Science or equivalent)

* Several years of experience in IIoT solutions, supporting in similar industries and connected devices.

* Strong technical knowledge and experience of IIoT device life cycle management capabilities

* Know the relevant industrial communication protocols, such as OPC-UA, MQTT, WebSocket streams and Kafka.

* Solid knowledge of integration patterns and best practices such as synchronous vs. asynchronous communications, RESTful APIs, messaging, publish-subscribe

* Cloud system architecture, best practices, container-based architectures, Docker, Kybernetes as well as Azure and Alibaba cloud technologies.

* Basic knowledge of data engineering, data science, advanced algorithmics and machine learning in industrial applications. Programming skills in relevant languages, such as Python, C, C# and C++.

* Hands-on experience with containers and orchestration platforms

* Ability to communicate across different functional teams with various cultural backgrounds

* Experience in working in CI/CD, knowledge in DevOps and Agile Frameworks

* Experience working in industrial environment

* Fluent in English, German is a big advantage

* You have the capability to learn fast in case you don’t fulfill all of the above requirements.
