UNICEF’s Division of Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) has for the past five years been running an annual Skill Share event with approximately 800 participants from over 80 countries in person and 3,000 participants from 160 countries online. The event is hosted in conjunction with other UNICEF divisions on behalf of colleagues who engage in work with the private sector from around the world.

To evolve our delivery method of capacity-building and knowledge-sharing content to colleagues throughout the world, we are adapting our Virtual Skill Share (VSS) model in 2021 to a year-long participant journey where a series of shorter online sessions will be offered live and/or on-demand. Offering shorter, high-quality, and relevant content with polished production over several months rather than a short window of time will maximize knowledge retention, skill uptake, and behavior change among participants – all while reducing workloads on session leads and speakers. This model will also support UNICEF’s efforts in addressing the climate crisis and our global mandate to protect the rights of every child.

In addition, PFP is also leading the development of a learning program on Knowledge Management to be offered to the whole of UNICEF. The learning program will be comprised of short modules that takes the form of online sessions offered live and/or on-demand.

How can you make a difference?

We are seeking an experienced graphic and video designer who will work with PFP’s PRIME Team to support this new model.

MAIN TASKS

  • Creation of the design assets and templates needed for Virtual Skill Share sessions and focused events happening with the VSS, including branded PowerPoints templates, overlays to be used in pre-recorded sessions, etc.
  • Review of speaker recordings and identification, collection, or creation of appropriate visuals in the form of still pictures, images, icons, key words, graphs, infographics, etc. to illustrate key points and messages from the recordings.
  • Development of animations and videos to illustrate concepts explained in session recordings that can be integrated in the pre-recorded sessions to clarify topics being covered by the speaker. These videos can be creative videos, video scribing, motion graphic, animated PowerPoint, or any other form of video appropriate to explain the concept.
  • Where necessary, video editing to bring together speaker recordings, visuals, and animations to form an online session.
  • Liaising with session teams to ensure that visuals and animations are appropriate for the session recordings.
  • For sessions that need to be produced with external vendors, coordinate with the vendor to ensure that the visuals and animations will be used correctly and according to the agreement with session teams.
  • Format or lay-out hand-outs and other publications needed for sessions, if any.
  • Provide any post-session video editing requirement.
  • Provide post-delivery support in uploading videos in the PFP’s video repository.
  • Assist the VSS organizers in any other creative requirements to successfully deliver the VSS.

DELIVERABLES

  • Branded assets and templates.
  • Session assets in the form of images, graphs, infographics, etc.
  • Animations and video clips needed for sessions speakers.
  • Edited videos that comprise full VSS sessions.
  • Formatted handouts and documents.
  • Other creative requirements for VSS.

ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE CONTRACT AND PROPOSAL

Full-time, 11.5 months, tentatively starting by mid-August 2021.

REPORTING TO

The individual contractor will report to the Knowledge Management Manager and will work closely with PRIME’s Knowledge Management Specialist and with session leaders.

WORKPLACE

Work remotely, with no travel expected.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

  • University degree in graphic design or comparable academic qualifications.
  • At least five years of professional graphic design experience.
  • Good portfolio of design work.
  • Ability to follow creative briefs and produce accurate artwork which is in line with the UNICEF brand guidelines.
  • Experience of working for an international organization or an NGO is desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite products, such as InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop.
  • Multimedia and editing knowledge using Premiere Pro.
  • Good working knowledge of PowerPoint and other Office platforms.
  • Ability to translate data into compelling infographics.
  • Fluency in English is required. (Good command of written and spoken English.)
  • Good understanding of French and Spanish.
  • Ability to deliver products on time and within budget.
