UNICEF’s ambitious plans to help more children around the world relies on increasing the value and volume of support from donors globally. As part of our drive to be more donor centric UNICEF is increasing the support provided to markets to be able to make the most of advanced technologies that can facilitate an improved donor experience.

Given the opportunity that these platforms can provide when fully leveraged, the global Individual Giving team want to provide additional expertise to technically and strategically support markets as they employ donor-centric journeys and use email marketing strategies to deliver value for donors and UNICEF.

How can you make a difference?

The role will play a critical role in improving market capacity to deliver an improved donor experience by supporting the optimization of their marketing journeys and email marketing and automations environment.

The contactor will be tasked with using existing tools, resources and guidelines to support markets to improve their email marketing program. These improvements will be monitored and tested with the goal of developing case studies that can be used more broadly across UNICEF. This individual will be focused on delivering assigned tasks and/or specific tracks of the donor journey and email marketing and automations strategy, working with the global email specialist to identify and assess the relevance and priority of associated tasks.

To ensure this work is well used and evolves, the contactor will participate in key meetings and knowledge hubs that seek to capture learnings, uptake and feedback from markets, feeding these insights back into the project deliverables.

MAIN TASKS
  • Completion of Market donor journey mapping, email and automation audits
  • Analysis and stakeholder engagement to optimize and define a market prioritization matrix.
  • Direct engagement with UNICEF market/s to conduct audits of current fundraising communications calendar and within that, email content, strategy and reporting.
  • Maturity assessments with markets; defining skills and opportunities.
  • Auditing across the entire email and automation environment of a market/s.
  • Identification and definition of key opportunities that can drive revenue growth in the channel.
  • Market engagement and support
  • Direct engagement with markets to optimize their marketing journeys, and their technical and strategic email marketing environment.
  • Development of project roadmap to address gaps in market’s email marketing programs.
  • Provide expertise and direct support to optimize the market’s email marketing strategy, technical environment, data health and approach to content.
  • Project monitoring, reporting and evaluation
  • Ongoing engagement with the market to:
  • Troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Gather insights and feedback.
  • Track performance in response to changes made to the system.
  • Identifying new opportunities to iteratively improve existing set-up.
  • Development of materials to outline project findings, roadmap and results for future use by the Individual Giving team.
  • Hosting and/or participation in webinars and workshops to share expertise, case studies and learnings.
  • Support to incoming requests from markets
  • Available to support market requests, including:
  • Deliverability issues
  • Platform set-up and optimization.
  • Journey strategy review.
  • Support to global Virtual Hub as required to implement activities that can support market requests.
  • Collating and reporting on market needs and requests.
DELIVERABLES

Below are the expected deliverables to be achieved through the assignment:
  • Market prioritization matrix and project approach documentation is developed.
  • One to Two prioritized markets have been engaged and have agreed to work on improving their email marketing and journeys program.
  • Roadmap is created that can be used to identify key gaps in respective markets and prioritize projects that aim to increase revenue.
  • Project completion results in increased revenue that can be clearly attributed to improved approaches to email marketing, automation or donor journey.
  • Project report, clear results and case studies are developed in response to any in-market activity.
ESTIMATED DURATION OF THE CONTRACT AND PROPOSAL

11.5 months, Part-time, up to 138 working days, tentatively starting on 7 Nov 2022.

The contractor will report to Fundraising Officer, Individual Giving Team, PFP.

WORKPLACE

Home-based (following Geneva office hours preferred). Travel may be required as a part of this contract.

Education
  • A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in Marketing, Communications, Non-profit or Business Management, or any other related fields is required, coupled with any other additional training and or certificate in a relevant field is an asset.
Experience
  • A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the areas of email marketing and end journey development is required.
  • Demonstrated experience using SalesForce Marketing Cloud, with specific knowledge across Journey Builder, Email Studio and Contact Builder is required.
  • Experience using basic html, AMPScript and SQL for email personalization is desirable.
  • Basic knowledge of Google Analytics and platform integration best practices is required.
  • Experience with digital campaigning using CRMs (ex: Salesforce) is required.
Languages
  • Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of another UN language, particularly Spanish, is an asset.
