Industrialization Chemist, Biocatalysis
Your future position?



As an Industrialization Chemist, Biocatalysis Laboratory Manager, you will be part of our Fragrance Ingredients Industrialization Department. Directly reporting to our Head of Fragrance Ingredients Industrialization, your main responsibilities will be the following:

  • To develop safe, sustainable and competitive manufacturing processes in the laboratory followed by scale up through Pilot plant to Production.
  • Propose study and implement biotransformation technologies (enzymatic reactions, fermentations and downstream processing) at laboratory, pilot and industrial scale.
  • Provide chemical reaction engineering expertise for industrialization project as well as innovation initiatives.
  • Provide support for production teams during the introduction of processes in manufacturing plants.
  • Manage industrialization projects with the collaboration of internal (Manufacturing, Purchasing, QC, S&T) and external partners
  • Manage direct co-workers (Laboratory Technicians)
  • Write comprehensive Project and Progress reports including formal procedures for laboratory and Pilot processes
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders

Your success profile includes:

  • PhD in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry, EPFL, EPFZ or similar
  • Strong expertise in industrial biotransformation
  • Sound experimental and theoretical expertise in chemical reaction engineering (including experience with simulation tools)
  • Experience in industrial organic chemistry desired
  • Several years of experience in an industrial environment
  • Project Management experience
  • Fluency in French and English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, interacting well with internal and external stakeholders. Candidate must be a team player and collaborative.
  • Experimental creativity, open to innovation, ability to manage change
