Description du poste

Job Description

The Physics Section and its Department of Nuclear and Particle Physics (DPNC) is a world-renowned center for fundamental research in physics, including particle physics, astroparticle physics, and cosmology. We offer an international, dynamic and competitive environment for the training of young researchers. Within the framework of research in high energy physics and more specifically for the upgrade of the ATLAS and FASER detectors, both installed on the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, the DPNC is seeking an

Electronics Engineer

with 2 to 3 years experience in the development of electronics boards and VHDL programming for FPGAs.

The candidate will work within an R&D team in close collaboration with many other specialists on electronics, software, mechanics, and physics to address the challenges of electronics for particle physics experiments. Within the framework for the upgrade of the ATLAS ‘Pixel Inner Tracker ITK’, the selected candidate will have to define the specifications for the ‘Patch Panel PP0’ electronics boards with strong signal integrity, mechanical and radiation hardness constraints, develop them from component selection, schematics, dimensioning and simulation to routing, prototyping, production and testing. Within the framework for the upgrade of the FASER detector, the candidate will also have to design electronics boards based on FPGAs and ASICs as well as VHDL firmware blocks for data concentration and high-speed communication on intel® FPGA. The candidate will be expected to provide assistance with the commissioning and operation of these electronics boards and firmware blocks. He will also be expected to participate in the dissemination of information related to the project through contributing to the writing of articles and participation at conferences.

Requirements
