Our products are used by over a thousand healthcare institutions globally and provide world leading capabilities for the analysis of genomic, clinical, and imaging data.

Interns in the BPD team embark on small projects that contribute to research and/or the development of SOPHiA GENETICS bioinformatic products. In particular, they perform exploratory research projects and help develop genomics-based products that include computational analytics (e.g. NGS analytical pipelines) and - in collaboration with the SOPHiA GENETICS Genomic Research lab in Geneva - lab components and protocols (e.g. bundle solutions incl. probes). They must comply with SOPHiA GENETICS processes and working instructions as well as regulatory requirements. During the course of the internship, the intern will benefit from training and development opportunities.

Main responsibilities:

  • to contribute to the planning, execution and report writing of research and small development projects
  • to develop bioinformatics, data exploration and/or statistical approaches
  • to analyse and interpret data produced by the lab or other collaborators
  • to help plan experiments in collaboration with the lab or other collaborators
  • to create appropriate documentation and ensure traceability of analyses
  • to help devise and develop prototype analyses and pipelines
  • to contribute to the design and testing of chemistry conditions, lab reagents, bundle solution components and lab protocols
  • to help design, plan, develop, test, prepare the release of and manage NGS analytical pipelines
  • to help design and develop algorithms for the analysis of NGS data
  • to evaluate the performance of algorithms

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or related field.
  • Proficiency in one or more scripting/programming languages (e.g. R, Python, etc).
  • Experience in exploratory data analysis in genomics or related field is a big plus.

  • Fluent in English is a must, any other language is a plus.
