Your role

Are you a law student in the master program, interested in banking industry? Do you want to experience the role of an in-house lawyer in the financial industry?

We’re looking for an Intern like that to:

  • Review simple legal agreements, event terms and other contracts with assistance from our in-house lawyers
  • Carry out research on various areas of law based upon instruction by in-house lawyer
  • Carry out research on areas of law including new legislation
  • Document know-how and support team on creating legal presentations and memorandums
  • Support future concepts of working initiatives (e.g., converting legal know-how into online delivery tools or support initiatives of new working concepts, e.g. help to create new intake solutions, chat bots)
  • Provide support to in-house lawyers on projects
  • Have daily interaction with other areas of the business to help the team complete the work and address the questions that the businesses raise

D&I Internship Program is dedicated for Industrial Trainees in Zurich to support the AM Legal team in providing legal advice to the business, but at the same time also engage potential young talents to create some momentum and positive view on the role of an in-house lawyer in the financial industry.

This role will expose the Intern to the work with legal team members and will give the opportunity to deal with (simple) legal requests and support the Legal team in advising the business with focus on Swiss legal matters. The Intern will also get the chance to further develop interpersonal skills, such as communication, and will be able to learn to navigate in an international legal team. Additionally, the individual will be encouraged to liaise with employees from selected areas of the business and have the opportunity to learn about UBS’ businesses and its operations as a whole.

Your team

You will be joining UBS Asset Management Client Coverage Legal team for EMEA & CH - an international in-house legal department with team members in Switzerland, London, Luxembourg, Milan and Kraków. The team is responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts and providing legal advice to internal stakeholders with respect to financial services and distribution of investment products. UBS Asset Management Client Coverage Legal team for EMEA & CH provides our Asset Management business units high-quality legal advice, tailor-made solutions and actively support them in the development and structuring of new offerings as well as negotiating agreements.

Your expertise

You need have completed at least four semesters of your bachelor’s degree or have obtained your master’s degree within the last 6 months.

In particular, you are/ have:
  • a law student within or just starting the master studies (preferably Swiss law but open to foreign laws as well)
  • fluent in German and English (both written and spoken), other languages would be an asset
  • analytical and structured in your approach
  • good organizational skills, reliable and flexible
  • digital native and computer-savvy
  • team player and have confidence to deal with people at all levels
  • committed to the Company for the length of the placement
  • solution oriented and have innovative, “can do” mindset
