Internship Electrical/Mechanical Engineering in Switchgear Team (80-100%)

The switchgear team focuses the research on advanced solutions for circuit breakers, load break switches/disconnectors, and contractors in modern power supply chains. We innovate the market to meet dynamically evolving power grid requirements challenging from the standpoint of sustainability, reliability and performance. Together with ABB development units we advance the sector of power products towards new device generations. This 6-month internship opportunity starts as soon as possible and focuses on supporting the low and medium voltage switchgear research team in experimental tasks. These include hands-on work in assembling and development of novel concepts for low/medium voltage switchgear. The intern will join the experimental team in the laboratory to test the developed solutions.

Your responsibilities

  • Construction of experimental setups
  • Participating in designing of the novel concepts for low and medium voltage switchgear
  • Executing experimental tasks within the ABB research team
  • Programming LabView software to record data in experiments
  • Evaluating experimental results and performing data analysis

Your background

  • Officially enrolled student in electrical/mechanical engineering or related subject (advanced B.Sc. or M.Sc)
  • Hands-on experience in experimental work in a lab
  • Proficiency in CAD and LabView or willingness to learn it
  • Ability to work in a large research team
  • Fluency in English
