In this role you will work within a multidisciplinary global team to discover, define, and design experiences that empower farmers to work more effectively and efficiently by utilizing our data-driven solutions.

IT and R&D already work closely together to solve problems and implement new solutions. As Technical Lead for Scaled Compute, you’ll take this partnership to the next level. You’ll be critical to understanding the technical needs of the scientists and turning ideas in to working prototypes or fully scalable solutions. You’ll be experienced in the design and use of AWS environments and languages such as PYTHON.

Partnerships are crucial to this role so you’ll be building relationships with our scientists, IT delivery partners and functionally managing a team, who will provide additional technical expertise. You’ll enthusiastically and pro-actively create and lead technology focused communities (e.g. Python, High Performance Compute (HPC), Predictive Modelling Network) to broaden your understanding of our research objectives, to connect people working on similar problems and to solve technology problems and blockers. This will cover a range of topics from training and upskilling, to best practices of code development to creating scalable AWS environments.

You’ll be recognized as an engaging, technical expert who is turning our vision of a turning our business vision of “digital R&D” in to a technical vision and working solutions! This role is equally suited to an experienced lead or a technical expert wanting to take your first step in team leadership.

  • Listen and understand the needs & problems of our scientists in Crop Protection R&D
  • Lead the technical design of software solutions
  • Embrace AWS cloud opportunities
  • Develops cloud infrastructure concepts and strategies to ensure use of native cloud and priorities the use of scripting over manual delivery
  • Create and host technical focused communities
  • Engage with suppliers for additional delivery capacity, licence management and support & maintenance
  • Ensure data on our platform is Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable (FAIR)
Qualifications

  • University Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong customer focus, communication, teamwork and negotiation skills
  • In depth technical experience, ideally AWS certified
  • Experience implementing data first solutions
  • Fluency in English, additional languages beneficial
  • 3+ years hands on experience of designing and implementing technical solutions
  • 3+ years working in agile teams
  • 2+ years experience designing for cloud, ideally AWS
