Monthey (VS) is the largest and most complex of Syngenta’s Crop Protection sites, producing Active Ingredients (AI) both new and established molecules. We are currently seeking a Production Chemist (m/f/d) for the Active Ingredient Production (AIP) Group in Monthey (VS).

The AIP Production Chemist leads one or more production lines according existing HSEQ best practices. The production chemist is responsible of quality, yield, production plan fulfilment and cost efficiency (QOTIFAC Quality On Time In Full At Cost). She/He is responsible of the production process, its documentation and its continuous improvement to support the supply chain needs. The Production Chemist works closely with the Asset Technician (AT) to solve problems, ensure the availability of the resources and the reliability of the equipment.

Accountabilities
  • guarantees HSEQ compliance in his area of responsibility in line with defined standards, can assess and manage risk appropriately
  • has process ownership and provides documentation
  • is responsible of technical, organizational, financial and QOTIFAC of one or more production lines
  • manages the performance of her/his products together with the Asset Technician through Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and reports them appropriately
  • leads Operational Excellence and continuous improvement initiatives
  • replaces the Production Manager to represent the sector when needed
Qualifications

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in chemistry and/or chemical engineering or equivalent; PhD (optional)
  • Excellent knowledge and proven experience in risk assessment (process risk assessment, change management)
  • Understanding of financial and organizational aspects of a chemical plant
  • Knowledge of applicable safety, health and environmental norms
  • Previous production experience or technical support within chemical industry
  • Previous project experience as a team member and ability to lead inter-professional project team
  • Team leadership skills
  • Fluent in French and very good knowledge in English.
  • Clear and effective communication skills
