Part of Leonardo (through its Helicopter division), Kopter is set to become a Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and an incubator of new technologies; also contributing to the development of new hybrid and electrical propulsion systems. The single-engine, turbine-powered AW09 now under development will outperform its peers with increased modularity, modern electronic systems, and a larger cabin and cargo hold. The AW09 delivers latest safety standards, more performance and comfort at low operating costs. Kopter’s 320 talented team members are primarily based near Zurich, Switzerland – with corporate/engineering offices at Wetzikon, and the production facilities in the towns of Mollis and Näfels.

Your Responsibilities

The Electrical System Engineer is responsible to:

► Develop the electrical system LRUs assigned to her/him.

► Take part to the architectural design of the aircraft Electrical System.

► Participate actively to the suppliers selection and manage suppliers from a technical point of view.

► Perform Electrical System ground testing and support the flight test team.

► Participate with the Lead Engineer and Team Leader to the preparation of the needed Certification documents.

► Write FRD (Functional Requirement Document) and TRDs (Technical Requirement Document) for Kopter Electrical System LRUs and test rig.

► Prepare Functional Descriptions for Type Certification.

► Support and organize technical meetings (System Requirement Review, Preliminary Design Review, Critical Design Review, etc.) as required.

► Collects data and performs standard analysis of data, identifying findings as appropriate.

► Interacts with Safety and Human Factors (HF) specialists when needed.

► Perform Electrical Load Analysis of the different aircraft configurations.

► Perform systems bench testing in-house or at the supplier.

► Support ground and flight testing activities.

Your Qualifications & Experience

► University Degree or equivalent in electrical or aerospace engineering.

►2 to 5 years of experience in the design of Electrical Power Generating and Distribution Systems for fixed/rotary wings aircrafts or equivalent experience on systems with comparable level of complexity.

► Experience in electrical systems development and integration.

► Experience in aircraft certification processes and familiarity with EASA and/or FAA certification requirements.

► Knowledge of aircraft electrical generation and distribution systems.

► Familiarity with environmental qualification DO-160 is an advantage.

► Familiarity with airborne software and hardware development DO-178 and DO-254 is an advantage.
