Part of Leonardo (through its Helicopter division), Kopter is set to become a Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and an incubator of new technologies; also contributing to the development of new hybrid and electrical propulsion systems. The single-engine, turbine-powered AW09 now under development will outperform its peers with increased modularity, modern electronic systems, and a larger cabin and cargo hold. The AW09 delivers latest safety standards, more performance and comfort at low operating costs. Kopter’s 320 talented team members are primarily based near Zurich, Switzerland – with corporate/engineering offices at Wetzikon, and the production facilities in the towns of Mollis and Näfels.

Your Responsibilities

The Lead Engineer Electrical Systems is responsible to:

►Lead the design of the Aircraft Electrical System.

►Lead selection of key Electrical System suppliers.

►Lead liaison with suppliers during aircraft electrical systems projects.

►Lead Electrical System laboratory and aircraft ground testing.

►Lead the development, build and maintenance of an Electrical Systems rig.

►Lead Electrical Systems support to aircraft flight testing.

Tasks

►Decomposes customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, generate verification criteria and produce documentation that captures the requirements.

►Develops (or revises) content for the functional description document, system requirements data (TRD), interface description document (IDD) and design verification test procedures.

►Performs architectural exploration.

►Supports technical meetings (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.) as required.

►Interacts with Human Machine Interface (HMI) specialists developing optimum aircrew operating environments in the use of the aircraft Electrical System.

►Leads the production and analysis of Load Survey information.

►Conducts technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and other analyses.

►Creates Electrical System substantiation and compliance data with assistance from Engineers, managers, or company CVEs.

►Performs systems bench testing, problem report investigation/testing and take action to resolve test discrepancies.

►Supports ground and flight testing activities.

Competencies

Your qualifications

►University Degree or equivalent in electrical or aerospace engineering

►5 to 7 years of relevant experience in electrical system development and integration for fixed wings or rotary wings platforms.

►Experience in aircraft certification processes.

►Familiarity With

■EASA and/or FAA certification requirements.

■Environmental qualification DO-160 is an advantage

■Airborne software and hardware development DO-178 and DO-254 is an advantage.
