The Group Finance & Treasury team is currently seeking a Risk Controller at Basel headquarters in Switzerland to be:
  • Global owner of numerous Treasury Risk Control tasks/processes:
  • Validation of globally applied Market Data
  • Global Treasury policies, frameworks, processes and controls
  • Group Treasury reports
  • Monitoring of compliance with risk limits
  • Treasury management system static data set-up and administration
  • Supports Head of Risk Control with other highly complex Treasury tasks (e.g. hedge accounting and disclosure
of Treasury transactions in financial statements)
  • Coordinates audit between Global Treasury and internal/external audit
  • Backup for other Treasury Risk Control tasks
Accountabilities
  • Independently manages the processes as a global expert – given risk limits and budgeted reported impact
  • Monitors compliance of Treasury processes with established policies and guidelines
  • Ensures upload of market data to the relevant Syngenta systems and performs controls on completeness and accuracy of the data
  • Performs controls on the valuations of derivatives in the Treasury management system
  • Compiles regular Treasury reports to senior management and controls the accuracy and consistency of the reports
  • Ensures effective and efficient operations of the Treasury Management System, including setup and maintenance of static data, rules and access rights
  • Identifies improvement opportunities
  • Influences senior management (including other departments outside of Treasury, e,g. Compliance and Reporting)
Qualifications

Skillset & experience required for the job
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree ideally in a technical discipline like Economics, Finance, Mathematics or Statistics
  • Solid experience in a Corporate Treasury or similar role (ideally in a large multinational company)
  • Understanding of Treasury processes
  • Understanding of financial market risks (FX, interest, commodity), related derivative instruments and their valuation principles
  • Basic understanding of IFRS, mainly sections related to financial instruments including hedge accounting
  • Experience in administration of IT systems (preferably Treasury Management Systems)
  • Basic programming skills (VBA, SQL, etc.) are an asset
  • Advanced user of market data systems (Bloomberg, incl. Bloomberg Data License)
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office (particularly Excel)
  • Strong communication, particularly ability to communicate complex tasks in a simple manner
  • Strong analytical skills
