As part of Leonardo, Kopter currently develops the AW09, a next generation single-engine helicopter that offers the largest cabin and cargo hold in its category, increased modularity and modern electronic systems. The AW09 delivers latest safety standards as well as more performance and comfort at low operating costs.

Kopter is set to become Leonardo’s Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and an incubator of new technologies, contributing to the development of hybrid and electrical propulsion systems. Kopter’s 320 talented team members are primarily based in Switzerland, near Zurich and in Mollis (Canton of Glarus).

Responsible

Your responsibilities

►For planning and coordination of the design, qualification and certification activities of the propulsion team

►That the design of propulsion system parts, assemblies and installations meet the applicable technical, functional, and regulatory requirements

►For the coordination of the design activities with other engineering teams in regards to system interfaces and overall integration into the helicopter

►For the administrative aspects of the team

►Responsible for the following systems: Powerplant (firewall, engine mounts, engine drains), engine integration, air intake, engine controls, exhaust, oil system and fire detection

Tasks

►Coordinate and manage resources, workload and deliverables within the team

►Focal point for all engine related activities within the design organization and suppliers

►Very hands-on technical involvement

►Create project plans and schedules

►Manage the requirements for the propulsion system

►Coordinate activities with other engineering teams in regards to system interfaces and overall integration into the helicopter

►Review and check requirements, qualification and certification documents. Focal point for certification Authorities technical familiarization and compliance demonstration

►Review and check parts, assemblies, and installation designs and drawings of the helicopter propulsion systems

►Write and update documentation where required to support the team

Your Qualifications & Experience

►Bachelor or Masters degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering

►Minimum 8 years relevant aeronautical engineering experience in mechanical systems integration (propulsion, fuel system or ECS). Applications with gas turbine engine experience with an airframe integration background are also welcome

►Experience in leading teams (directly or technically) in an aircraft or helicopter development environment

►Supplier management skills are an asset

►Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

►Aircraft or helicopter certification experience (CS 23/25/27/29)

►Helicopter experience is an asset

►Ability to work under pressure with a good sense of urgency

►English – verbal and written at minimum B2 level
