Position Summary

We are currently looking for a highly competent Junior Buyer based in Switzerland, responsible for managing commercial and sourcing activities within the Global Ocean Procurement Team.

Reporting directly to the Regional Category Manager, your main responsibility will be to implement the category sourcing strategy to support the existing team, finding solutions and addressing challenges to meet customers’ and markets’ needs.

A day in the life of Junior Buyer - Ocean Freight
  • Verifying appropriate execution of established agreements with preferred suppliers.
  • Exchanging with the supply-chain and suppliers daily to ensure Nestlé needs are properly considered, prioritized, and processed.
  • Negotiating contracts with a broad portfolio of local and international suppliers to source new capacity (containers) when needed.
  • Acting with our markets supply-chain department business to identify any issues and orchestrate alongside them the propose operational solutions.
  • Constantly keeping aware of the various news or events impacting the smooth implementation of ocean carriers contrats.
  • Proposing and implementing, with management support, the measures enabling Nestlé to mitigate risks.
  • Ensuring compliance with Nestlé’s Corporate Business Principles, policies and standards.
What Will Make You Successful
  • University degree in Procurement, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Economics, Finance or Logistics.
  • 1-3 years of experience within Procurement or Logistics (ideally within Ocean Freight).
  • Being available as soon as possible.
  • Demonstrated success in delivering competitive advantage to the business through implementation of sourcing strategies for different Logistics categories.
  • High learning speed and agility to navigate in ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated success in risk management, responsible sourcing, and supplier relationship management.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with individuals across a complex organization.
  • A strong interest in the Logistics industry is advantageous.
  • Fluency in English is essential.
