Our Client

Skyhawk Therapeutics, with sites in Boston and Basel, is a drug discovery and development company founded in 2018 by leading experts in small molecule therapeutics. Skyhawk is committed to discovering, developing and commercializing small molecule therapeutics that modify RNA expression. They use their novel SkySTARTM platform (Skyhawk Small molecule Therapeutics for Alternative splicing of RNA) to develop drug candidates for some of the world’s most intractable diseases including cancer, neurological conditions, and other therapeutic areas and targets previously considered “undruggable.”The team in Basel herby is working on a broad set of various indications. The aim is to identify drug candidates and to further optimize the lead candidates in strong cooperation with external partners as well as pursuing the own pipeline. Place of work: Basel (Switzerland)

Tasks
  • In close collaboration with biology/chemistry group leaders and scientists design, develop, execute and analyze a variety of experiments, including but not limited to:
  • RNA/DNA isolation, RT-PCR, electrophoresis, RT-qPCR for analysis of gene expression and detection of splice variants;
  • Mammalian cell culture, transfection/transduction, generation of stable cell lines;
  • Cell-based assays including luminescence/fluorescence reporter assays, imaging, FACS, proliferation and viability assays
  • Protein extraction, immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, ELISA, protein assays
  • Small molecule testing in miniaturized assay format
  • Record all data and results in electronic format with accuracy and responsibility in a timely manner
  • Analyze and interpret results from a variety of readouts, including DNA/RNA sequence analysis
  • Prepare presentations and efficiently discuss results at internal and external meetings

Requirements
  • Technical Diploma, or a degree in molecular biology, biochemistry or related field (Bachelor or Master or PhD; with minimum 5-8 years of experience in an equivalent position, preferably within an industry context (collaboration or internships)
  • Experience with drug discovery and compounds in oncology
  • Excellent understanding of molecular biology and cellular assay approaches is required, including design of tools (e.g., qPCR primers and probes sets) and data analysis (e.g., sequence alignments, curve fitting)
  • You are familiar with the common molecular biology techniques such as: RNA/DNA isolation, RT-PCR, electrophoresis, transfection/transduction, generation of stable cell lines, rt-qPCR and for gene expression analysis
  • Good knowledge with cell-based assays such as including luminescence/fluorescence reporter assays, imaging, FACS, proliferation and viability assays, immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, ELISA, MSD and other protein assays
  • Proficiency in MS Office package and GraphPad prism
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written), any further languages are an asse
