In this function the Director External Scientific communication and scientific engagement has responsibility over the creation and delivery of the scientific communication plans across the portfolio as well as direct and indirect creation of scientific deliveries.

An ongoing development of the External Scientific outreach and engagement of Scientific and Medical experts, in collaboration with colleagues of the research and development group.

This challenging and diverse position will include the following tasks and responsibilities:

  • Responsible for fostering/enabling and maintaining the strategic planning of scientific communication across the portfolio in collaboration with Project teams and Project Leaders
  • Responsible for the deliverables of Scientific Communication supporting Scientific abstracts and publications, and external scientific communication decks or other deliverables
  • Responsible for additional deliverables of Medical Affairs, including adherence to timelines, quality standards and compliance, as per internal Policies and SOPs.
  • Participate in the development of scientific messages in collaboration with the scientific teams, Leadership Team and Investor Relation that can be used across various types of external scientific and corporate communications. This activity will require deep scientific data translation as well as good understanding of the scientific rules and corporate context to ensure scientific integrity whilst adapting to the context of the delivery.
  • Represent Scientific Communication and MPAG at related events internally and externally.
  • Responsible to coordinate Congress mapping and attendance planning as well as coordinate insight gathering
  • Responsible for the planning and management of external scientific engagement in collaboration with VPs and colleagues from Research and Development to ensure a robust flow of scientific and clinical outreach
  • Identify thought leaders in the field of interest (“KOL mapping”) and establish and maintain meaningful relationships and keep overview of these insights applying appropriate ‘Customer Relation Management’ (CRM)

For this position, we are looking for a highly motivated individual bringing along:

  • Academic degree in medicine or life sciences
  • 5- 10 years of experience in Scientific communication and / or Expert Medical engagement role as Medical Affairs Scientist
  • Experience in formalizing scientific communication strategies, messages and documents
  • Experience in External Expert engagement (single outreaches, advisory boards, contract facilitation..)
  • Extensive knowledge of GCP and regulatory requirements
  • Understanding of business context and regulatory environment and trends
  • Clinical Development or management of Investigator Initiated studies experience is of interest
  • Managerial experience ot required but is a plus.
  • Strong ability to build relationships and communicate effectively across different functions
  • Experience/ capacity to work with high level internal stakeholders up to CEO / Leadership team
  • Regulatory / GXP experience
  • Good knowledge of GCP and other applicable regulatory requirements
  • Adherence to high ethical standards
  • Functional competencies, including but not limited to: organizational, prioritization and planning skills, negotiation skills, communication & presentation skills
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
