To strengthen our Medical Affairs Team in Alps and Belgium, we are looking to hire a Field Medical Lead Rheumatology Alps & Belgium,to be based either at Belgium or Switzerland.

As the Field Medical Lead you will have autonomy in your role whilst being part of a great team of innovative and passionate colleagues. It is a role where you can create impact and inspire a team, and where there is space for input and ideas. Next to this you work with a strong immunology pipeline of products ready to be launched. In this key role you are accountable for the leadership of Medical Science Liaisons for consistency & excellence of MSL capability, consistency & excellence of MSLs plans across the ecosystem & and area/country; line management of MSL teams. In addition, in ABN region FML is also the line manager of Medical Solution Leads and should ensure the medical strategic alignment in each country in close collaboration with the Medical strategy leads.,.

You will lead a therapeutically aligned Medical Science Liaison (MSL) Team across several ecosystems in your region and provide executive medical presence, leadership, coaching, and accountability to drive individual and team results. Actively working on the development of the MSL team and ensure keeping top talent in the organization. You will have leadership responsibilities related to the recruitment, development and management of MSLs in their respective country/area. As a field leader, you will be responsible for developing and implementing field medical strategic roadmap and delivering on group and individual metrics for their team.

As a UCB ’scieninspiring’ person, you will be responsible for:

  • MSLs and Medical solution Leads leadership responsibilities, including among other tasks:
  • Alignment & cross-functional collaboration within the ecosystem team so that MSLs are empowered to be the medical leaders of the field ecosystem
  • You will establish a presence within the region with external stakeholders (e.g., opinion leaders, advocacy leads, key decision makers) through regular participation in conferences and field meetings with their MSLs
  • Cross functional input into country TA strategy and ecosystem plans, including among other tasks:
  • Provide key input for medical/MSL plans execution for ensuring the best leverage of medical engagements and customer facing tactics and in a compliant manner
  • Work closely with the cross-functional teams (integrated solution lead team, ecosystem leads) to develop the medical strategy that aligns MSL plan with asset strategy and ecosystem customer plans
  • Contribution to the regional & Global Medical capability development (across medical affairs community, including among other tasks:
  • Promote best practice sharing and identification of synergies and collaboration cross assets and cross indications
  • Resource optimization & effectiveness including budget management in collaboration with Ecosystem Leads

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:

  • Several years of demonstrated Medical affairs/leadership experience or/and managing a field medical team. However, this position is also a great opportunity when you are a senior MSL looking for the next step in your career.
  • Relevant therapeutic area experience is a plus,
  • Strong science background
  • PhD, PharmD or MD degree preferred
  • Language: English both verbally and written and additional languages as French, Dutch or German is a plus
  • Demonstrated strength in strategic medical planning, tactical plan development and implementation
  • Effective communication, presentation and engagement skills including mastery of English language
  • Digital Literacy
  • Willingness to travel on regular basis
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in managing, developing, coaching and influencing teams in matrix environment
  • Demonstrated negotiation, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills
  • Scientific Acumen and ability to translate scientific and clinical data into value proposition for the different stakeholders
  • Business Acumen and Focus on delivering customer value and impact
  • Medical governance and compliance skills
