As part of our ambitious growth strategy, we are looking to strengthen our Science & Technology Explore Food Ingredients team with a Food Texture Research Scientist. With a background and expertise in natural food texturizers, you will be an important member of the Natural Texturizers and Emulsifiers team. You will establish and lead research programs to develop improved and new products and solutions for the category. You will report directly to the Category Technical Manager and you will be based in our Innovation Center in Kemptthal.

You Will:

  • Design and manage research projects according to our goals and corporate strategy leading to innovation within the Natural Texturizers and Emulsifiers category
  • Lead on projects with all partners, cross-regionally and globally
  • Work independently to research and identify areas of opportunity for the category especially Natural Food Texturizers
  • Execute experimental studies focused on natural ingredients and food texture.
  • Provide technical and scientific oversight within the area of expertise
  • Work with project management, flavorists, food application and other ingredient discovery experts
  • Review competitors, IP and regulatory landscape as part of the exercise to identify gaps, needs and constraints
  • Provide expertise and excellent knowledge of food texture ingredients and additives, formulations and processing techniques to the business
  • Maintain awareness of new methodologies and technologies to strengthen the performance and differentiate with natural food texturizers (literature, patent reviews, conferences, trade-shows)
  • Maintain working relationships with global Science & Technology groups and external partners

You Have:

  • Master degree with at least 4 years job experience on food texture or PhD degree related to food texture
  • Experienced working with natural ingredients
  • Technical background and hands-on experience in food rheology and texture analysis and methodologies
  • General knowledge of food manufacturing/process science to support identifying technical routes for scaling up with Develop/Industrialization teams
  • Business Fluent in English; additional languages are of advantage
  • Capability to apply new and unprecedented routes towards technical solutions in relevant product categories (e.g. non-dairy drinks, meats, meat analogues, sauces and dressings, sweet goods, dairy and non-dairy, beverages)
  • Experienced in project management
  • Experienced in designing and conducting research projects to develop improved and new products and solutions
  • Laboratory experimental skills (in food rheology and texture analysis) and enthusiasm for hands-on works
  • Used to work in an interdisciplinary and multicultural environment
