Our team works in close collaboration with scientists in the disease areas of Oncology, Neuroscience, Rare Diseases, Ophthalmology, Infectious Diseases delivering cutting edge next generation sequencing solutions to support research projects.
We are looking for a motivated lab technician with hands-on experience in next generation sequencing workflows to join our team in Basel. You will be part of the BioX Genetics and Genomics group in Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) function at Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED). We closely collaborate with our therapeutic areas and functions to convert hypotheses into innovative therapeutics and are currently ramping up our Next Generation Sequencing service capabilities to provide pRED wide support for internal discovery activities (eg, target identification, screenings, model characterization, etc)
Job Mission
As a Lab Technician, your tasks includes:
- The execution of standard next generation sequencing applications (eg. RNAseq, DNA-seq, single cell RNA seq) including sample preparation, library generation and sequencing on eg. Illumina systems
- Scientific and technical contribution to experimental design
- Maintenance of lab equipment and infrastructure, ensure compliance with local requirements
- Fit for purpose sample storage and handling of DNA and RNA samples during analysis
- Correct assay documentation and following F.A.I.R. data generation principles
- Performing assigned tasks independently, on time and within forecasted budget
- Training of other technicians and/or students
You have an associate’s degree program certificate or a Bachelor in Science in a relevant biological discipline preferentially along with experience in academic or industry setting.
- Strong molecular biology laboratory skills
- Strong experience with Next-generation sequencing and sequencing data QC
- Problem solving and organizational skills are highly desirable
- Familiarity with databases, tools, and resources commonly used in interpretation of genomic data is plus
- Fluency in spoken English and good communication and presentation skills are required
- Quality and customer oriented mindset
- High spirit of collaboration and ability to work in a highly self-managed manner in an agile matrix team with sense of urgency and ability to deal with complex situations
