The PositionLC-MS Bioanalytical Assay Developer for Oligonucleotide-based Therapeutics (m/f/d)In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organisation (pRED) , we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. At pRED, we are united by our mission to transform science into medicines. Together, we create a culture defined by curiosity, responsibility and humility, where our talented people are empowered and inspired to bring forward extraordinary life-changing innovation at speed. This position is located in the Roche Innovation Center Basel and anchored into a chapter within the Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS) function, where the development of regulatory compliant assays for Biomarkers and Bioanalytics is a primary focus. We closely collaborate with our therapeutic areas and functions to convert hypotheses into innovative therapeutics. The position holder will be member of the newly formed cross-functional RNAHub, where disease-biologists, nonclinical development experts, molecular biologists, molecule engineers, bioengineers and data scientists from various pRED functions join together to create and apply technologies that perturb RNA to discover drugs, biomarkers and targets. The RNAHub takes a very data-centric approach, utilizing both artificial and human intelligence, that requires a high degree of data-literacy. In the RNAHub, we build a strong, collective and engaged community, where we employ, explore and evolve new ways of working in a research environment.Job missionBeing an expert for the development of bioanalytical assays and biomarkers required for the development of oligonucleotides, your main responsibilities are the evaluation, development, and application of novel methodologies to analyze and quantify oligonucleotides and associated protein biomarkers from animal and human study samples. You are mainly applying highly sensitive LC-MS methods in which you have special expert knowledge. You work with scientists and associates to support the development of oligonucleotides from discovery to early development.Your impact
  • You have knowledge in the field of bioanalytical and biomarker assay development in the lab with special focus on oligonucleotides and protein biomarkers; you develop new sensitive methods to assess the pharmacokinetics of a therapeutic compound and its biodistribution as well as selected biomarkers / pharmacodynamic markers
  • You are an expert at applying LC-MS technologies in the lab, evaluating new technologies and help to transfer novel methods to external collaboration partners
  • You apply the technologies to analyze samples from pre-clinical and clinical studies and condense the results into bioanalytical reports which might become part of filing dossiers
  • You are aware of different technologies to analyze and quantify oligonucleotides and help to evaluate and select the most appropriate for compounds of that therapeutic modality
  • You scout for new technologies and lab equipment to constantly evolve best practices in the lab
Your profile
  • Master in Biology, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or technician with substantial experience
  • 3+ years experience in a laboratory developing bioanalytical / biomarker methods to support oligonucleotide drug development
  • Hands-on experience with relevant technologies, expert knowledge in quantitative Mass spectrometry is a must, expertise in PCR and ELISA techniques is a plus
  • Knowledge in tissue sample preparation and processing as wells as in development of an appropriate quality control concept
  • You love to collaborate and work in a team with a sense of urgency and ability to deal with constant change of timelines and requirements
