  • You will work at the EPFL innovation park, situated at a vibrant scientific campus in a unique setting together with a team of scientists and developers supported by the headquarters in Germany.
  • You will develop innovative integrated decision support software tools and medical image processing algorithms with a focus on brain MR imaging. Possible research topics may include AI-based segmentation, classification, pattern recognition and mathematical modelling.
  • You will be involved in different pre-development phases: research, implementation, prototyping, algorithm optimization, validation and deployment in clinical workflow for routine use. You will support clinical data analysis with advanced statistical methods.
  • You will help foster clinical translation by transferring the developed techniques into clinical studies and the Healthineers product funnel.
  • You will interact intensively with clinical and research partners locally, nation- and world-wide.
  • You will participate in scientific publications presented at conferences and in peer-reviewed journals.
  • You may travel both internationally and domestically for collaboration visits and conferences.
Your qualifications and experience:
  • You hold a degree in computer science, image processing, (bio-)medical engineering or related fields
  • You gained long-standing experience with medical imaging, ideally proven by a PhD in the field.
  • You are proficient in scientific programming and gained practical experience in software development and software life cycle management.
  • You have profound experience with machine learning techniques, neural networks and related topics.
  • You have a good understanding of MR imaging and worked with MRI data.
  • Your familiarity with software containers and UI design is a plus.
Your attributes and skills:
  • You are excited about the possibility to work in an international, scientific environment to drive translational clinical decision support developments.
  • Machine learning is your second language, you have a track record of applying ML in the field of medical imaging, Python, Kera, TensorFlow are your day-to-day tools.
  • You like bringing your methodological developments into practice, have a strong drive for results and to apply theoretical knowledge in the “real world”.
  • You like to interact with different people, and you are motivated by being able to bridge the gap between research and industry.
  • You are creative and can overcome obstacles.
  • You have excellent communication skills in English, both written and orally. Other languages are an additional asset.
  • Based on your experience, you have a proven capability to drive research and/or development projects on your own but nevertheless can easily integrate into a local team, stay in touch with globally distributed colleagues/partners and have a collaborative approach to find solutions.
