Business Development Executive – Life Sciences

Preferred location: Switzerland, Romandie or Bern region

The Opportunity

Cognizant’s L&S vertical is seeking an Account Executive who acts as a business owner for assigned accounts and clients in in the sectors of Health Sciences, Medical Devices & Technology, Healthcare

In this role you will manage the day-to-day activities and P&L of these accounts and accelerate our growth in the Swiss Market. Having a good network in the Life & Health Sciences space is an advantage and to some extent also a pre-requisite.

The Business Development Executive (BDE) proactively identifies new and expansion opportunities on accounts and plans for and closes the extension of existing agreements. The BDE works with delivery teams to maximize backlog, optimize the resource mix (for delivery capability & profitability) and navigating scope changes to ensure client expectations are met. They work towards establishing a positive client experience through delivery and value. This role is a high visibility and challenging opportunity and requires high amount of commitment, business acumen, leadership qualities and motivated attitude to perform well.

Your Responsibilities

· Maintain and expand Cognizant’s network in the area.

· Leverage successfully your own network to win new business

· Develop successful sales strategies and act proactively to sell Cognizant’s services and solution portfolio into the regional target sectors

· Own defined growth targets, measured in total contract value and growth ratio year on year

· Be part of a very successful commercial team, driving >20% annual growth

· Understand our target client group, understand the industry’s trends and priorities

· Be able to work in a team of pre-sales, sales, commercial and delivery solution support experts.

· Own and orchestrate pursuits and drive the team towards the winning solutions

· Be effective in commercial operations from planning, sales tools handling, and forecasting for your area of responsibility

Your Qualifications

  • University Degree
  • Several years of extensive experience in live project environments and teams, software / systems development in the Life Sciences space
  • A good grasp and know-how of the pharma value chain with a nice-to-have depth in any of the pharma value chain business functions – commercial, R&D, clinical, supply chain, manufacturing
  • Testimonials and track-record of building lasting client relationships, working closely with client business & IT teams
  • Having worked in a complex matrix-environment & environment - leveraging the strength and value of distributed teams, diverse cultures, and technology skills & capabilities on offer
  • Ability to work with a collaborative mindset across own and partner ecosystems
  • Proven ability to contribute to new business development efforts and to lead and manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
  • Detail oriented and collaborative approach with problem solving abilities to identify strategic solutions to business problems with enterprise-wide implications
  • Awareness of technology advances and transformational applications in the Life Sciences space
  • Fluent language proficiency in English and one Swiss national language (specifically French, German, or Italian); conversational level of a second Swiss language is an advantage
