The position is located in preclinical Chemistry, Manufacturing and Controls, a department within the Therapeutic Modalities function, where the development of robust and innovative API synthesis and drug products to supply and enable key preclinical activities paves the way towards Entry Into Human. We are CMC experts and together with our discovery functions partners, we generate scientific and technical knowledge to assess the developability of drug candidates. We build our strength on a broad diversity of enthusiastic technical experts, pharmacists, chemists and analytical chemists delivering and innovating in the space of small molecules, peptides and oligonucleotides.

Job Mission

We are offering an outstanding opportunity for an experienced organic chemist to work with a multidisciplinary team of scientists dedicated to solving complex synthetic, process research, scale-up and supply challenges to support our early R&D portfolio.

Your Impact
  • Developing scalable synthetic routes and processes (including own work in the laboratory to enable efficient, robust and safe supplies, ideally also fit for clinical phase 1 API delivery.
  • Managing and coordinating all non-GMP API supply campaigns in our Kilolaboratory in support of our small molecules portfolio
  • Embracing the use of new technologies and digital workflows
  • Nurturing trustful relationships and effective collaboration with internal and external partners

Your Profile

You thrive in a dynamic, inclusive environment which gives you full accountability for your own contributions and development. You have a keen interest in continuously building a personal network. You are resourceful and flexible in problem solving and in working in a collaborative and inclusive manner. You have a sense for ensuring that everyone has the required information at all times. You have a MS in Chemistry with 7 years of experience or a PhD in synthetic organic chemistry with relevant professional experience in chemical process R&D.

Your professional experience allows you to expertly lead chemical process R&D efforts with an emphasis on the scale-up of small molecule syntheses. You are knowledgeable in state of the art organic synthesis, technical and safety aspects relevant to drug substance supply in a kilolaboratory or pilot plant environment. You have strong oral and written communication skills and are proficient in preparing and running effective meetings. German knowledge is a plus.
