Description

Corteva Agriscience LLC is seeking aUNIX/Linux Systems Administratorto be responsible for the administration, maintenance, and support of the Corteva Global Linux/AIX/Solaris/VMware environment and related services. In this role, the successful individual will protect our critical information, systems, and assets, help build solutions, create and enforce IT system policies and procedures, implement new software and hardware, provide training, and assist in the development of an overall IT strategy.

Objectives of this Role
  • Maintain essential IT operations, including servers, operating systems, patch management, security tools, application access, software, and hardware
  • Own projects, solutions, and key responsibilities within a larger business initiative
  • Collaborate with Corteva’s cloud management team in support of Linux Red Hat server deployments
  • Administer and maintain HPC and related infrastructure (hardware and software)
  • Administer and maintain Red Hat Satellite environment for Lifecycle management, patching, provisioning, stable configuration, and support DevOps for Azure deployment
  • Build, deploy, and maintain corporate standard server builds to align with Corteva’s server lifecycle management timelines
  • Handle business-critical IT tasks and systems that provide commercial advantage in a global marketplace
  • Enable faster and smarter business processes through automation
  • Partner with internal and external partners to communicate project status, activities, and achievements
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support efforts for backend processes

  • Provide guidance and support of Corteva’s Infrastructure Service Providers to maintain Enterprise policies and procedures
  • Monitor Corteva’s Infrastructure Managed Service Provider activities to assure quality and consistency of run and maintain processes; escalate cases as necessary
  • Perform server administration tasks, including user/group administration, security permissions, group policies, print services, research event log warnings and errors, and resource monitoring, ensuring system architecture components work together seamlessly
  • Coordinate problem resolution activities with other Corteva IT, managed service provider IT teams, and if necessary, with hardware and/or software vendors
  • Provide run and maintain support for areas currently not under scope of our managed service provider
  • Support infrastructure planned maintenance and outages for lifecycle management
  • Monitor datacenter health using preexisting management tools and respond to hardware issues as they arise
  • Build, test, and maintain new servers and perform upgrades as needed
  • Interact with the help desk and other teams to assist in troubleshooting, identify root cause, and provide technical support when needed
  • Utilize internal ticketing system to log incidents, perform escalations, and close resolved issues
  • Perform routine/scheduled audits of the systems
  • Assessing the stability, security, and scalability of installed UNIX/Linux systems
  • Discussing system and server upgrades with IT managers
  • Providing technical support for staff and back-end system users
  • Troubleshooting system and server errors and monitor system performance
  • Reviewing system error logs and user-reported errors
Qualifications

Requirements: What expertise have you grown? What do you bring to the table?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three or more years of experience working in medium or larger operational environments supporting Linux, AIX, VMware, or Sun environments
  • Experience in Systems Administration including shell scripting and higher-level programming languages required
  • Experience with databases, patch management, and networks including LAN and WAN
  • Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems; current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, system performance-monitoring tools, active directories, virtualization, HTTP traffic, content delivery, and caching
  • Experience with VMware virtualization; vSphere and vCenter centralized management
  • Experience administering Red Hat Satellite
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure environment, including Azure Container creation and management
  • Experience in project management, application design and integration, and cloud computing (specifically Microsoft Azure)
  • Expertise in creating, analyzing, and repairing large-scale distributed systems
  • Creating volumes, assigning to servers and remote replication
  • Experience with IaC (Infrastructure as Code) ie ARM Templates, Bicep, Terraform, CloudFormation
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, YAML pipeline experience a plus
  • Experience with Configuration Management tools (DSC/Puppet/Ansible) with Ansible being a plus
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, including facilitation and team skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently
  • Strong analytical skills required for timely problem resolution, accurate estimates of resource utilization, disciplined testing skills
  • Willingness to learn new tools and technologies
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working within a hybrid UNIX/LINUX/WINDOWS server environment preferred
  • Professional certifications
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs
