What you will do:
The Quantitative and Trading Analysis (Q&TA) team aims at providing a better understanding of the gas, LNG, power and emissions markets traded by TotalEnergies Gas and Power (TGP) in terms of prices and fundamentals, finding ways to model and forecast their dynamics and dealing with complex issues requiring a quantitative approach (pricing, hedging and simulations of complex products, transactions or assets).
In a context of great autonomy, the Q&TA team contributes interpretation, advisory and support to all TGP trading desks and to senior management - including COMEX members - and helps them define trading strategies and take investment decisions.
In this context, your main tasks will be the following:
  • You will be part of the Quantitative & Trading Analysis team under the supervision of the LNG portfolio optimisation analyst.
  • You will work primarily on the maintenance and development of the LNG portfolio optimisation platforms used by the LNG Portfolio Management team.
  • You will also get exposure to and help on subjects related to the other commodities traded by TGP (including worldwide gas & power).
  • Your aim will be to create and maintain tools based on the output of the team’s models, to create added value to Front Office and to the Q&TA team by extracting and presenting data under new angles.
  • You will be responsible for the design and publication of queries related to portfolio or market analysis models for the LNG desk.
  • Automate data gathering and data analysis of the input data for such models.
  • Work in association with the market analysts within the Q&TA team to help maintain models and their related tools including supply-demand equilibrium models.

Candidate profile

  • Pursuing a degree in master’s degree in computer science, operational research or a mathematical subject, and you are looking for an internship
  • Internship agreement is a mandatory
  • Strong interests in optimisation, programming and information technologies are essential.
  • Strong skills in Python programming (OOP) are mandatory.
  • Knowledge of energy markets could be an advantage.
  • Fluent in English (oral and written) – knowledge of French is an advantage
  • The position requires autonomy, objectivity, innovation, to be resourceful, well organised and to have a strong interest in energy markets.
  • The candidate should be able to explain complex issues and present them in a clear and neat manner
