Your ‘day to day

As a Manager Scientific & Medical Affairs – Product Science, you will be part of the Scientific & Medical Affairs (SMA) team in Life Sciences leading the alignment and consolidation of product characteristics and science substantiating PMI’s smoke-free products for the purpose of feeding other business functions and external engagements with relevant scientific narratives and product information.

More specifically, you’ll

• Ensure strategic liaison with product development.
• Serve as liaison between product development & innovation activities and Life Sciences as well as other business functions where consolidated product information and science is required.
• Represent Scientific & Medical Affairs in Life Sciences smoke free product core team meetings and be the key contact point in SMA for product information and science matters.
• Ensure that SMA is a key partner in product calendar projects throughout the product development lifecycle.
• Be the scientific lead of the development of engagement materials for smoke-free products.
• Consolidate product related information and science for relevant SMA led projects, scientific engagement, external affairs (fiscal and regulatory), and litigation projects.
• Develop strategic briefs on consolidated product information and science for external communication.
• Lead strategic alignment of product science activities with global strategic projects.
• Ensure alignment of product development led activities with global strategy, initiatives, and directions, by cross-functional collaborations between Product, Life Sciences, External Affairs, Legal, Global communications, and commercial.
• Support consumer-facing message substantiation with consolidated product science.
• Create substantiation documentation for product related statements used for consumer-facing communication.
• Lead the development of product science related SMA strategy.
• Develop product science related SMA strategy for calendar projects to ensure that SMA activities are integrated parts of the BLAST process.
• Communicate product science.
• Communicate product science at both internal trainings on smoke-free products, as well as externally, including Key Scientific Opinion Leaders (KSOLs), regulatory and fiscal authorities, policy decision makers, and media.
• Contribute to strategic scientific studies on smoke-free products.
• Lead and coordinate strategic scientific studies with the goal to generate scientific evidence to further support product value proposition. Ensure that strategic scientific studies carried out serve cross-functional needs (Legal, external affairs, engagement, communication).
  

Who we’re looking for

• MSc and PhD in the field of physics, chemistry, or engineering
• Substantial experience in product design and development of consumer goods (preferable in the area of nicotine delivery technologies), and in consolidation and communication of science and product information for various audiences and purposes.
• Knowledge of fundamental principles behind smoke-free product science, aerosolization, and inhalation technologies, as well as of technologies related to oral nicotine delivery.
• Strong communication and relationship management skills
• Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
• Fluent in written and spoken English.
